New South Wales visitor Pure Grunt was installed as heavy favorite and when Will Rixon led him forward it seemed a matter of how far. Pete McMullen promptly decided to follow the course behind the leader and they looked a class above the other four runners.
Pure Grunt looked to be cruising as they straightened out, but when McMullen cleared him from the fence he responded and raced right past Pure Grunt to gain three meters with Opallane in third.
SITTING ON NOV 8 7 REPLAY
Sitting On Eight, trained by Donny Smith, achieved a 1.54.2 in the 1660 meters.
New South Wales took the honors in the second heat when the Rickie Alchin-trained Kiki Meister (Bettors Delight) overwhelmed them and took the clear lead in a fast 1.53.2.

In another small field of six runners, Kiki Meister had too much speed to sail into the lead. Completing his third quarter in a brisk 27.5 seconds, Kiki Meister stormed away from his rivals and comfortably held off Timmyteo and My Ultimate Zander, both of whom made up ground without looking like they would trouble the winner.
KIKI MEISTER NOV 7 REPETITION
Kiki Meister is lightly raced with three wins from just six starts and gives every indication that he will improve with racing. The $125,000 final at Albion Park on November 15 will be closely contested and the draw will be important. Although the two heat winners have good prospects, Pure Grunt has the ability to turn around his second place finish in the heat.
