The Saturday, Jan. 31 card at Gulfstream Park featured five stakes, highlighted by key preliminary races at the Road to the Kentucky Derby and Kentucky Oaks. The action at Gulfstream, combined with two graded stakes at Tampa Bay Downs, helped reshape the Equibase standings, with new leaders emerging in the three-year-old divisions.

Nearly turned in a 3-year-old colt by Not This Time in a dominant performance in the Grade 3 Holy Bull Stakes at Gulfstream Park, winning by 5 ¾ lengths ahead of Hall of Fame duo Todd Pletcher and John Velazquez. The victory marked Nearly’s third consecutive win and moved him into first place on the Road to the Kentucky Derby standings with 20 points. With two wins already in 2026, including the lion’s share of Saturday’s $275,000 prize, Nearly now leads the 3-year-old division and sits sixth overall with $221,550 in purse earnings.

The Grade 3 Forward Gal Stakes also saw a dominant performance from Not This Time’s offspring. On Time Girl pulled away to score a three-length victory under Irad Ortiz Jr., giving trainer Brad Cox first and third place. On Time Girl, an Albaugh Family Stables homebred, collected 20 points on the Road to the Kentucky Oaks and improved to four wins and a second from five career starts. With $90,210 in earnings for Saturday’s win, On Time Girl ranks fourth among three-year-old fillies and 29th overall on the Equibase leaderboard.

Sister Troienne continued her strong three-year-old campaign with a 2 ¾ length victory in the Sweetest Chant Stakes earlier on Saturday’s card, marking her second stakes victory at Gulfstream Park in January, following a victory in the Ginger Brew Stakes by 1 ¾ lengths on January 3. With earnings of $180,420 in 2026, Sister Troienne climbed to first in the 3-year-old filly division and seventh overall. She is on a five-race winning streak for trainer Brian Lynch.

Lynch also picked up a turf stakes victory at Gulfstream on Saturday with Thousandsticks, who prevailed by a neck in the Kitten’s Joy Stakes under Mario Gutierrez. Lynch had an excellent week overall, recording four wins from six starts to lead all North American trainers for the week with $255,335 in earnings.

Tampa Bay Downs had two mixed-stakes races on Saturday: the Grade 3 Tampa Bay Stakes and the Grade 3 Endeavor Stakes, each with a purse of $175,000. Ortiz Jr. remains in second place with $2,818,135 in earnings in 2026, but leads all jockeys in wins with 41 (27%).

Thanks to a one-two punch in the Pegasus World Cup, trainer Saffie Joseph Jr. a commanding lead in the trainer standings with just over $3 million in revenue. Brad Cox ($1.7 million) and Steve Asmussen ($1.6 million) are currently in a tight race for second place.
