Jannik Sinner produced a burning finish from Outmanouvre Fabian Marozsan and booked his semi -final place on the China Open in Beijing on Monday.
The No. 2 in the PIF ATP rankings, Sinner gathered from a break by winning the last three games of the game for a 6-1, 7-5 triumph against Marozsan in Beijing. After racing through the opening set, the Italian had to produce some of his best tennis to escape a 4-5 deficit and to put a semi-final confrontation with his fellow Top 10-star Alex de Minaur.

“I feel that I started very well in the first set and we both played very well in the second set,” Sinner said. “I had a number of big chances at 4-3, but couldn’t use them. He is someone whose peak is very high, I knew that before the game. When he served for the set, he made a few casual mistakes that naturally helped me to come back and win in two.
“Of course it is also psychological, but it is also how you arrive at these times. I tried to fight, had a few difficult service game that has money a few times from 30/00 times. I am happy how I fought today.”
Although Sinner turned out to be far too strong in the opening phase against Marozsan, the Hungarian deeply digged his opponent to close his victory. To-to-one with the 20-way Titlist on tour level from the basic line, Marozsan threw four breaking points to hold 4-4 in the second set and then immediately broke Sinner’s Serve for the first time in the game to threaten a decision-maker.
Yet the world no. 57 could not maintain that indictment. He produced a sloppy 10th game, in which Sinner broke to love, and the Italian repeated the performance in the 12th game to seal his victory.
Now in the semi-final in Beijing for the third time, the 2023 champion Sinner will compete against Alex de Minaur for a place in the championship match. The Australian third seed previously progressed after his quarter-final opponent, Jakub Mensik, was forced to retire when finding 1-4 in the first set due to injury.
Sinner will enter the semi-final of Tuesday with a 10-0 Lexus ATP Head2head lead against the Minaur. The Italian, who is second in the PIF ATP Live Race to Turin and has already qualified for the seasonal Nitto ATP final, has now reached the last four in seven of his eight tournaments in 2025.
