When the stars of the ATP tour arrive at tournaments around the world, they are often fully focused on tennis. But at the Cincinnati Open there has been a lot of discussion with Forehands and Backhands.

Everyone is enthusiastic about the transformation of $ 260 million from the Lindner Family Tennis Center, the home of the seventh ATP Masters 1000 event of the season.

“It is amazing. I spoke with all the players and it is actually very strange for us to come to a location where everything was new,” said Jannik Sinner, the number 1 player in the PIF ATP ranking, in his round table with pre-tournament. “It is amazing what they did in a year. Everything has improved so much, but usually the space we have for our players.

“There are huge things inside and also outdoors. Inside the dining area is much, much bigger and when you come out of transport, it’s like a hotel, so it’s great. I feel very happy and honored to have this kind of revolution because it is something great for us and our sport.”

That is the sentiment that is shared by the whole dressing room. Tournament organizers have fully overhauled the facility and add a new player building with ultramodern eating and lounge rooms, with indoor and outdoor spaces to relax, a coffee bar, giant televisions, padel courts, back garden games and much more.

“To be honest it is impressive,” Second Seed Carlos Alcaraz told the media. “The space we now have for women, for ourselves, I love it. I felt like I’m new, [like] It was my first year. I think this is what we needed and we now feel great with the new everything. ”

The 2019 Cincinnati Open Champion, Daniil Medvedev, added to ATP Media: “When a tournament makes a big improvement for players – also for fans, but I can only talk as a player – it is always an advantage.

“It’s great that they try to do better and it’s a great tournament. I have always loved it and now it’s even better, so it’s great to see.”

Andrey Rublev, a finalist in the tournament in 2021, noted that he was happy with the experience in Cincinnati to start with. The event is just at a new level after the transformation.

“Cincinnati really showed enormous improvement in a year,” Rublev told Atptour.com. ‘But to be honest for me in Cincinnati [there] were always good conditions. Even last year with everything in terms of space, in terms of lockers, in terms of some activities, lounges, I felt that it was at a good level. ”

World No. 144 Daniel Elahi Galan, who will take on Monday in Sinner in Cincinnati, competes in his third ATP Masters 1000 event of the season and has been “super happy” with his experience. One thing he pointed out is the abundance of practice lanes – in the southern part of the location there is a new block of 10 courts with seats for fans. There are a total of 31 outdoor courts, an increase of 17 in 2023.

“I hope that every tournament goes so far to make changes, to improve everything, to make us feel very comfortable. Super good,” Galan said. “We have enough courts that we don’t have to share … the food, I am vegetarian and it has actually been very good, which is not normal with every tournament. That is also something to be happy with.”

A constant for players has been a smile on their faces. Whether it is a coffee, a game with friends or just relaxing, many have the player building in particular compared to a hotel. French double -player Sadio Doumbia compared it with an amusement park.

“For me this is as Disneyland for tennis players,” said Doumbia. “You have everything you want. The food is very good, the gym is perfect and it is wonderful. We have just arrived today and I am fantastic. My coach is so excited, I am so excited. It feels like Disneyland for me.”
