SIMEY Doherty Eyes Bareknuckle World Title for Bristol Clash with Joe Smith

Simey Doherty believes that his skills can take him to the top of the Bareknuckle Boxing World.

The 29 -year -old Van Stoke returns to the Trigon on Saturday evening.

Doherty meets Joe Smith in Bristol and believes that he can hand over the Swansea Hard man a boxing lesson.

He said: “I know his game plan.

“I have looked at all his fights and every fight he has is the same.

“He is always waving on the front foot, but if you look at my fights, I can box different ways.

“He can’t take a backward step – and sometimes you have to, even if you are bigger and stronger than your opponent.

“I can adjust.

“I have that technology and pedigree of the amateurs.

“I had 40-50 amateur attacks and people I defeated then won British and Commonwealth titles in Pro Boxing.

“I would also become professional, but Covid hit and ruined that.

“The goal is now to win the world title in Bareknuckle and I will go wherever I have to fight against whom I have to fight to get it.”

Doherty suffered a shock loss in his last Barnuckle fight.

Bareknuckle bosses ordered a rematch against David Winiarski after Doherty had been beaten by him in March on points in Wolverhampton.

Doherty said: “I am happy to run it back, but he went to super-half-weight and I have fallen to light-mid-weight, so there are now 10 kg between us.

“I thought I won the fight, but it’s now in the past.”
