Simeone – Bergvall – Jackson in Chelsea transfer news

Here’s a round-up of the best Chelsea news, gossip and latest transfers from icfootballnews including Lucas Bergvall, Diego Simeone and Nicolas Jackson that you could have missed…

Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone has been tipped by former Liverpool star Dietmaar Hamann to become Chelsea boss in the coming seasons.

CHELSEA appointed Liam Rosenior as boss only a few weeks ago, and since his move to Stamford Bridge the former Strasbourg coach has impressed as boss of the Blues, winning eight of his 12 games in charge of Chelsea.

But despite his impressive start at Chelsea, Hamann has suggested there could be a change in Stamford Bridge’s position. He predicts Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone will end up in west London.

Simeone, 55, has been in charge of Atletico for 15 years. During that time he won two La Liga titles, two Europa Leagues and reached two Champions League finals.

“I see Diego Simeone at Chelsea,” Hamann told Thunderpick. “I think he’d probably go there. Even CHELSEA I think they’ve lacked a bit of steel in recent years and they’ve made excuses too easily and too quickly.

‘If it were Simeone’s last season at Atletico, I don’t think we would see him in six or 12 months, because when you look at him on the sidelines I think: what is it, fifteen years now? I think it would have taken a lot out of him.

‘But what a character. I would love to see him in the Premier League. You know, after he’s at Atletico, he won’t go to Real again. I don’t see him at Barcelona. I’m not sure he likes Saudi Arabia.

‘I think there is a good chance we will see him in the Premier League. What a fantastic story it would be.

‘Liverpool? You know, when Arne Slot says that style is more important than results, it’s clearly the opposite with him, because he doesn’t care how he wins games, which I like.

‘This is why I like him, because I think when I played at Liverpool we played a bit like that. There were quite a few teams that were better equipped than us.

‘And then you have to find a way to win games. He went to two Champions League finals. It was a shame he didn’t win. I think it was in Cardiff at the time.

‘People talk about style, but he clearly has a certain group of players and this is how he wants it.

‘If he comes to Liverpool and he has some technical players, who’s to say he won’t tell them to give the ball back to the opponent and try to tackle them? So yes, I wouldn’t rule anything out.’

CHELSEA READY TO SELL JACKSON

Fichajes report that Tottenham Hotspur have expressed an interest in signing striker Nicolas Jackson from Chelsea, with the Blues reportedly open to a summer move if a bid in the region of £70 million is received.

Fichajes claim that Tottenham are closely monitoring the situation as they continue to assess striker options for Ange Postecoglou’s system. Spurs have been without a natural number 9 since the departure of Harry Kane, instead relying on a rotated attacking line led by Dominik Solanke and Richarlison. Jackson’s mobility, output pressure and pace at the back are thought to appeal stylistically to Postecoglou.

CHELSEAA’s willingness to make a deal partly stems from their own summer planning, with the club expected to pursue attacking reinforcements. A significant fee for Jackson would allow the Blues to reallocate funds to more experienced or clinical forwards, while easing pressure around compliance with future PSR windows.

Tottenham, meanwhile, are expected to explore various future targets across Europe. Jackson is seen as one of several options rather than a primary or exclusive priority.

Could the transfer realistically take place?

Selling Chelsea directly to a major Premier League rival – especially one competing for European places – is never easy. The £70 million valuation could reflect both Jackson’s potential and Chelsea’s reluctance to strengthen a domestic rival without a premium fee.

Secondly, it is unclear whether Tottenham would make such a substantial investment in a striker who is still developing and has yet to prove himself at Premier League level. Spurs have alternative targets with more established goalscoring records who can be prioritised.

Third, CHELSEA must take into account team balance. If they fail to secure another No. 9 at the top level early in the summer, they may prefer to keep Jackson as a rotation or development piece rather than risk weakening their forward depth.

That said, Chelsea’s need to generate turnover, Tottenham’s search for a dynamic striker and Jackson’s style lend some credence to the rumor. For now, that possibility exists, but the deal is far from certain and will likely depend on Chelsea bringing in reinforcements first and Spurs agreeing a fee closer to the reported valuation.

BERGVALL INTERESTED IN REMOVING

Chelsea reportedly made a low-key move for Lucas Bergvall during the January transfer window, according to The Sun. Although no deal has been completed, the rumor has resurfaced as the summer approaches, raising the question: could the young Tottenham Hotspur talent actually consider a move to Stamford Bridge?

Considered one of the most exciting teenage midfielders in Europe, Bergvall is being closely monitored by Chelsea’s recruitment team, who remain committed to a strategy to attract high-quality, multi-functional young talent. His technical quality, composure and ability to press match the profile Chelsea have prioritized under their current ownership.

CHELSEA are also keen to strengthen their midfield options with players who can develop in the long term – an area where Bergvall would be a perfect fit for the club’s direction.

Tottenham only recently signed Bergvall and he has already shown flashes of the potential that made him such a coveted prospect. as such, Spurs are unlikely to attract interest easily. Selling him to a direct London rival would be even less palatable.

Would Bergvall want the move?

The most compelling part of the speculation revolves around what Bergvall would personally want. Several factors can determine his interest. At Tottenham, Bergvall has a relatively clear development path at a club known for its trust in young players. Competition is fierce at Chelsea, with several valuable midfielders already vying for a spot.

That could make the prospect of immediate regular football uncertain.

Players with Bergvall’s profile often consider the size of the project, the potential for short- and long-term success, and the opportunity to become a focal point of a team. Chelsea could potentially play a more central role in their future blueprint – something that could appeal to a rising star.

Can a summer promotion take place?

Despite Chelsea’s interest, a summer transfer would be extremely complex. Tottenham would demand a significant fee, and Bergvall would have to believe the move would advance his career rather than slow it down.

Yet CHELSEAThe admiration is genuine and they have a history of revisiting targets they missed the first time. If the money is right, it would be interesting to see what Tottenham actually do.
