Toronto, ont. Silver is the best STAKES GLOT GOLD IN THE $ 100,000 Bull Page, a 6 ½-Furlong main job event for 2-year-old Colts and Veldings, Sunday in Woodbine.
The last time Silver was best a disappointing sixth in the Simcoe Stakes on 24 August. This time this was exactly the opposite result for the trainee of Bill Tharrenos.
It was Stablemate and Simcoe Stakes Victor Big Bold and first who broke at the top, but the Bay Velding was quickly engaged by King Ronin. The two pace letters threw the glove early and took their four rivals through an opening quarter in: 22.44, because Silver is best located in fourth place along the backstretch.
Big Bold and First and King Ronin continued to match after half steps: 45.90, but the first starter B de Koning slid to the duo around the bend in front of the house and then grabbed the command. Silver is the best, under David Moran, has picked up the chase, but had a lot of work to do to inspect the new leader.

“The (the journey) was perfect,” said Moran. “We thought he would win his last race and for whatever reason, it didn’t happen for him. He kicked nice today. He was actually much more relaxed pre-race and really left the gate behind. I just waited to get clear and he kicked as we thought he could.
“If he works and he has one on his outside or inside, he will just drag you past them. He just loves running.”
Tharrenos was happy to see his young student, owned by Michael Coll, in the circle of the winner.
“I was a bit shocked to tell you the truth,” said Tharrenos, of the off-the-board Simcoe finish. “We taught him to relax and end and that is the way it was set up today. I was just proud of the horse. He is a pretty anxious horse. He was anxious in the paddock last time. Nowadays he was a little more mature. These young people, they can blow a race quite early in the beginning or in the paddock. But it all worked today.”
It was the success of the first commitment to the Bay Son of Signature Red from the Scat Daddy Mare Scatter The Silver, which is now 2-0-1 of four starts.
The gelding, bred by Howie Walton, was a purchase of $ 23,000 (CDN) from Canadian Prime Minister Yearling Sale in 2024.
