After bowling out the West Indies for just 248 runs in the first innings, the Indians commanded a huge lead of 270 runs from the first innings. The Indian captain and management decided to impose the follow-on despite the bowlers having bowled almost 40 overs since the morning session.

Just in the 9th over of the Second West Indian innings, opener Teganarine Chanderpaul was left stunned by Indian skipper Shubman Gill. The Indian bowlers have shown deliberate perseverance as they took the field for another innings soon after bowling since the morning session.

Not Jasprit Bumrah, but Ravindra Jadeja got the new ball next to pacer Mohammed Siraj. This time, unlike the first innings, a pacer drew first blood for India. In his fifth over, Siraj bowled a cross seam on the back of the length that rushed to Chanderpaul, who looked for space and lobbed him towards middle.
Gill rushed back with his eyes on the ball and dived with both hands, completing an absolute blind catch. Chanderpaul departed for just 10 runs.
