On Saturday, the Run of Great Britain at the Billie Jean King Cup Finals in the semi-final when the US, the most successful nation in the history of the Women’s Team Cup competition, Won both singles competitions in Shenzhen, China, to continue to Italy, the dominant team in recent years, in Sunday’s final.
It is not easy, but that is why we are playing and competing here. We can test ourselves on one of the best teams. I am excited to go there, it will be fun. Jessica Pegula
While Great Britain turned out to be stubborn opponents in another absorbent tie, Emma Navarro and Jessica Pegula prevailed to win their rubbers to seal a 2-0 victory after Team GB had closed a good fight before he went down.
“We all have so much fun,” said Pegula. “It is the first time I have been to a final. It will be a new experience that I experience with my teammates, so that’s nice. We are happy with today, but we have to regroup ourselves and be ready for Italy.
“We just really enjoy the moment. Win or lose, we are such a great team and it is a privilege to be with these girls and to experience it.
“Italy becomes really difficult. They defend champions and we have seen them fight the battle all week. They compete very hard, and I have seen Paolini come back every game and competing.”
Despite their rated record, Team USA have not been weighed with silverware in recent years, after he has won only one Billie Jean King Cup title since 2000, with that in 2017.
However, there is expectation on their shoulders, not least because of the powerful Singles offer that they possess in Pegula and Navarro, whose bravery was clear during the 11th meeting between the US and Great Britain, their first for 33 years.

It was far from sailing for Navarro in the opening rubber against a grim Sonay Kartal, who apparently likes to play in the Women World Cup.
Despite the breaking of service in the opening match of the competition, Navarro looked hesitant and nervous, and in an instant, Kartal 4-1 was up, with all the qualities that have fueled another entrepreneurial season.
The 23-year-old won both games on her BJK Cup debut in April, reached the 4th round in Wimbledon-her best Grand Slam result and rose to a career-high no. 44 in the world in July.
Kartal also defeated Ena Shibahara during the quarterfinals confrontation of Great Britain with Japan, and that form continued here when she resisted a short Navarro Surge to take the opening set.
The second set was characterized by quick -fire shifts in Momentum, because Navarro took revenge twice after her serve was broken before they finally cut loose to level the game.
The third set was full of drama, intense and enchanting with twists and turns in the plot, before Navarro finally claimed the match, 3-6 6-4 6-3, which sent the US 1-0 in the draw.
Nevertheless, in the aftermath of her victory it was the entrance song of the team – Mr Brightside by the murderers – on which Navarro decided to concentrate.
“That was my choice,” said Navarro. “The last time we had entered Sandman, which I had nothing to do with it. Nobody was fired when Enter Sandman came up. I said,” Come on guys, we can do better than this. “
“I threw Mr Brightside there, what a classic college number is, when the bar closes the type of song. Everyone knows, and everyone probably has some memories with that song. I think it was a good choice.
“My teammates gave me some stick for it, but I had shivers when we walked away. That’s what Mr Brightside can do to you.”
Navarro also organized a back in the quarterfinal and saved 2 match points to beat Yulia Putintseva from Kazakhstan.
The loss of Saturday marked Kartal’s first Singles Deposit in 4 BJK Cup matches since she debuted in April.

Pegula, the World No 7, followed with a heavily fought victory over Katie Boulter, the British No. 2, who also took the opening set, but the American recovered from claiming a 3-6 6-4 6-2 victory.
Because of her own recognition, it has been a tough few months for Boulter after a loss of shape, including early outputs at both Wimbledon and the US Open, and a hectic schedule that leads to burnout.
The 29-year-old, however, has been revealing a new life in Shenzhen and admitted so much during her press conference after the victory over Japan on Thursday.
Boulter also described the confrontation of Great Britain with the United States as a ‘free swing’, and promised to ‘chase after’ the American players in the hope of claiming a place in the final.
Pegula felt the full power of Boulter, who was precisely demonstrating why she was on the Top 20 CUSP at the end of 2024 when she claimed the opening set, but, as Navarro had done earlier, the American fought back to take the second.
Although it was not entirely convincing, the US was now only one of the final, and the third set was in balance for so long, 3 consecutive pauses of Serve worked Pegula in a position of power, which she did not hand over.
In the quarterfinals, Pegula had lost her singles match, but returned in Doubles next to Taylor Townsend to secure the decisive point for the US, and this time around her singles victories the 19th-way champions to their 31st Billie King Cup final.
This was also the 10th victory for the American team on the British in 11 tires between the two countries in the competition.
Italy hit Ukraine in the first semifinal on Friday, when Jasmine Paolini came out of a set and a break to defeat Elina Svitolina in the second singles, before working with Sara Errani to win the decisive Doubles match.
“It will not be easy, but that is why we are playing and competing here,” said Jessica Pegula. “We can test ourselves on one of the best teams. I am excited to go there, it will be fun.”
Italy appears in his third consecutive final and is looking for its 6th title on Sunday, while the United States is haunting its record-expanding 20th crown.
