Shenandoah Downs to organize 2-year-old Sire Stake Preps

(Woodstock, VA – 9/19/2025) -Shenandoah Downs, that weekend number two of his seven-week autumn harness racing season arrives in Woodstock, will for the first time organize a Tour of Virginia Sire rank races-for two-year-old on Saturday and Sunday.

Trotters fight on Saturday in a few $ 6,000 PrEP divisions and return the following weekend to compete for $ 60,000 wallets in the respective final. Pacers follows the same path on Sunday. To be eligible for the series, all horses must have been conceived by a stallion that was registered with the Virginia Harness Horse Association and stood in the Commonwealth of Virginia during the breeding year. The program started in the breeding season 2022 and the resulting foal harvest of 2023 Die are now 2-year-olds.

Kalispel by Robert Mckim is early 9-5 favorite in the 2-year-old Colt Trot Division. The Gregory PECS Ruin is the only horse in the light -racing field that has reached the winner circle – what he did during the recent Shenandoah County Fair -Meeting. Second choice is Stacey McLenaghan’s Seminole Breeze, who is from Shibboleth Hanover, while the third early Pick Tracy Bradshaw’s Kades is Nay, by Win fireworks That was second last weekend in a Pari-Mutuel Race in the autumn opener of the Woodstock Track. A complete field of eight will go postward in the fifth race.

Michael Whitaker’s Talehia is an early choice in the Merrieveeulen, carded as race six with a seven field. The Love Jager Filly gathered a few second place at the local County Fair Meet and finished second in a conditioned race in Shenandoah last Saturday. Eric Davis will drive Talehia out of the rail. The only other horse with a victory in the field is Tracy Bradshaw’s Bottaboom who scored an honest victory in Woodstock twelve length. The Win fireworks Merrieveeulen will be powered by Christian Myers from outside post seven.

The Sire Stake Pacing Preps on Sunday have smaller fields and are carded as the first two races of a 13-race program.

Saturday’s map also has an amateur row series competition between two different clubs -the United States Harness Drivers Club and the Southern Tier Amateur Club that is located from Tioga Downs. Four drivers of each club will ride in two races – the fourth and seventh – and accumulate points for their club based on order of finish. Winning horses receive a cooler, connections with the horses receive a baseball cap and various non-profit organizations receive donation controls from the amateur driving clubs.

The autumn season of Shenandoah Downs will take place until October 26 with racing planned every Saturday and Sunday at 1:05 pm. Trackmaster programs and tip magazines can be downloaded for free shenandoahdowns.com.
