This initiative is in honor of the black company month
Comedian, radio presenter and activist Sheletta Brundidge have worked her magic to get a local supermarket in Minnesota to celebrate Black Business Month by allowing local black entrepreneurs to show their products in their store.
Brundidge connected With Hy-cattle in Robbinsdale to speak with them to welcome these small owners of black companies in their space on August 9, so that the locals can meet them and taste their products.
“We have great products, we make salsa in the kitchen, hair care products in our house, we have the pop-ups on the farmers market, but we have to be there, so we can’t keep making a product,” said Brundidge in a written statement.
This opportunity gives black small companies the chance to talk to potential customers, so that they are more about them, their product and just to network.
“It puts a name on it,” said Joe Lowe, store manager at the Robbinsdale Hy-cattle. “So, when they (shoppers) see that product in our shelves, even in a month from now on, they can remember that they talked about their product with Sylvia and Liza from Soul Grain, how they thought it up, and it gives them a good feeling about buying the products in the future.”
The three companies offered the chance Soul grainA Granola company of Sylvia Williams, a pastry chef and Liza Maya, a nutritionist. The syrup hair and skin care of nature, a company set By De’vonna Pittman for vegetable products for curly hair. Nadia’s Jamaican cuisine Serving samples from their restaurant, which is located in Brooklyn Park, who serves Jerks -Chip, Curry Soup and other Jamaican flavors.
“If we can get these products on the shelves at the Hy-cattle in Robbinsdale, then we can go back and make more and meet people to do outreach, versus, what we sit there and sell, that’s what we get,” said Brundidge.
