Sharaputdin Magomedov has shared his thoughts on why the UFC didn’t give Arman Tsarukyan a second title shot. Tsarukyan, the number one ranked UFC lightweight prospect, was given the opportunity to become the 155-pound kingpin at UFC 311 earlier this year. However, the Armenian fighter was forced to withdraw at the eleventh hour due to a back injury.
Not happy with the withdrawal, UFC CEO Dana White had said during the post-fight presser that ‘Ahalkalakets’ is going back to the drawing board and will have to work his way up for another title shot.
To get back into the promotion’s good books, Tsarukyan therefore took a chance on UFC 317, submitted Dan Hooker was recently at UFC Qatar and wants to be the official backup for the UFC 324 headliner, an interim lightweight title fight between Justin Gaethje and Paddy Pimblett.
Arman Tsarukyan and Dana White do not have a strained relationship, as both parties recently reaffirmed. White also added that ‘Ahalkalakets’ is aware of what’s going on behind the scenes and why a title shot was denied.

Recently, UFC middleweight Sharaputdin Magomedov, who will fight Arman Tsarukyan on December 30 in Armenia, opened up about why the 29-year-old was denied a title shot. ‘Bullet’ told Red Corner MMA:
“I understand why Arman didn’t get a chance. The UFC got new sponsorship from Paramount Pictures, so they need a Western audience, Western fans. Gaethje is a seasoned veteran of the sport; he’s also American. Fans love him and he has a big fan base. Pimblett has gotten tremendous hype. Arman got an opportunity, and the fact that he missed it was a dirty joke on him.”
