Shadab Khan, dubbed ‘chor’, faces vicious personal attacks after slamming ex-Pakistani cricketers

Former Pakistan batsman Ahmed Shehzad has criticized all-rounder Shadab Khan following his comments about former cricketers during the 2026 ICC T20 World Cup. Shehzad stated that the comments were disrespectful and unnecessary towards former players including Shahid Afridi and Mohammad Yousuf.

After Pakistan’s loss to India in the 2026 T20 World Cup, Shadab came under heavy criticism. Former players raised questions about his place in the team, along with Babar Azam and Shaheen Afridi. The 27-year-old scored an unbeaten 35 runs and also picked up three wickets in the next match against Namibia.

After that match, Shadab responded to questions about former players and stated that those legends could not beat India in World Cup, while his team managed to achieve that feat in 2021.

Ek To Aap Chor Rastey Se Aaye Ho – Ahmed Shehzad on Shadab Khan

Ahmed Shehzad questioned Shadab Khan’s place in the playing XI and stated that favoritism played a role in his selection. Shehzad said Shadab was not a regular performer in domestic cricket but still received support.

“Ek to aap chor raastey se aaye ho. (You entered through the back door). You are neither an artist nor a regular player in domestic cricket. Despite not performing at all, you are getting the support. You have not even done rehab after getting injured. They have dropped Hasan Ali from the central contracts but not you,” Shehzad said during a live debate during his appearance on Geo News.

Learn to respect your seniors – Ahmed Shehzad

Ahmed Shehzad said Shadab Khan crossed a line by criticizing senior players like Shahid Afridi and Mohammad Yousuf. Shehzad added that teams of the 1990s regularly dominated India despite their World Cup losses.

“If that’s not favoritism, then I don’t know what is. It doesn’t look good when you make statements like that. And you compare yourself to the team from the 1990s? They had their problems and lost to India at the World Cup, but they were far superior to you.”

“Look at their performance; they dominated India during that period. Just because two former players criticized the team, you suddenly forgot the support they gave you. So learn to respect your seniors,” he added.

You have no right to say such things – Mohammad Amir criticizes Shadab Khan

Former Pakistan pacer Mohammad Amir said Shadab Khan should focus on his performance. Amir added that players always face criticism during a tour and they have no reason to complain about it. He said criticism motivated him to perform better during his career.

“When you are on tour, there will be criticism. So you have no right to say such things when you are on tour. Even though we were criticized on tour, my focus was to silence those critics with my performances. So if you are not performing, you have to keep your mouth shut,” Amir said.

Pakistan suffered a 61-run defeat to India but bounced back with a win over Namibia to book a spot in the Super 8s. The Salman Ali Agha-led team has been placed in Group 2 along with New Zealand, England and Sri Lanka.

Pakistan will start their Super 8s campaign against Mitchell Santner-led New Zealand at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on Saturday, February 21.
