The Australian armor racing giant Kevin Seymour has called on the industry to “wake up quickly” and to support the future of the $ 2.1 million tab Eureka.
Seymour closed speculation.
“We have to be ambitious and give people a reason to go to yearling sales and buy a horse with the dream of a life -changing victory,” he said.
“The Eureka tab is the race that does that and it is necessary that we not only protect it, but continue to invest, promote and build.
“I have no doubt that it helps our breeding industry by creating extra interest in the sale of Jaarling.
“Simply, the Eureka tab lifts the industry through its bootstraps and makes it attractive for people outside of bubble and that is crucial.
“Look at its success in just two years. Turnover is huge, Menangle has not seen any crowds and the quality of horses to get out of the race speaks for itself. Not to mention the promotion it drives for the sport.”
Spring to Fame and Catch a Wave have become two of the best Pacers and Multi millionaires in Australia since the 2023 inaugural tab and last year’s winner, Don Hugo, won the huge Inter Dominion and Miracle Mile only a few months after his Tableka victory.
“This race gives the Sport National Exposure and, along the Inter Dominion, has become a flagship race,” Seymour said.
“It has become iconic and if you don’t believe me, ask those who have won it so far and others, like me, who are desperate to win it.
“If we don’t have such showcase races, we will not stay a commercial sport, we will change a hobby sport and slide into oblivion.
“We have to build dreams and create the possibility to win a pot of gold, a life -changing amount of money.”
Seymour rejected suggestions that the Tableka was a “race for the rich” in harness races.
“Everyone can buy an (Australically bred) yearling or breed with the chance to get into the race, that’s its beauty,” he said. “Look at the first winner (coding).”
Encipher was bred and raced by Kadina Hobbyist, Tyson Linke.
Seymour added that he was a personal example of the many who invested more in Australically bred yearlings because of the Eureka tab.
“So many of our best (Aussie) horses have been nz-bred, but I am proud that my best recent horses have been bred Australically as jumped to fame, Tims a Trooper, fate waiting, path to glory and others,” he said.
“As the owner you buy them to try to win the Tableka, but the by -product will also create more commercial stallions from Australia.”
Seymour has put his money behind his words, not only with his yearling purchases, but also by taking slots in races such as the Eureka tab and Queensland’s $ 500,000 protostar two -year position.
“I love them. They are vital and I will of course support them in every possible way,” he said.
With this year’s tab on less than a month away, Seymour is approaching a decision on which Pacer will racing in his end with a triple Group 1 winner Fate Wacht and Nutrien Sales 3YO Final Winner Path to Greatness The Front Runners.
“I don’t hurry because the race means so much and I want to do it well,” he said.
“We had a jump in our lock and he became second in 2023, then we used our lock on Bay of Biscay and he was second last year … it’s time to get a better one.”
