Seoul Saturday: race-by-race preview (December 20)

Saturday’s race is in Seoul with 11 races from 10:35 AM to 6:00 PM. Here are the previews:

Seoul Race 1: Class 6 (1200M) Special Weight A/KRW 45 million

Youth girls where seven of the twelve are racing for the first time. And none of those who have raced before have finished better than 10^e on their respective debuts we side with the newcomers. (5) GLOBAL CHAMP won two stages, the second emphatically on December 4^e when he crossed the line eleven lengths to the right. If he brings that form to the races, he will win. (6) POWER MAGIC led in her test and eventually finished fourth^e behind Global Champ (in his first and less impressive trial win). She is on pace and can go a long way with it. (7) SSOARA HAHA led the second test of Global Champ and was ultimately well defeated in the 2nd test^i.ehe showed enough to suggest he can be competitive. (1) DONGBAEK wasn’t terrible during her trial, but given experience, (8) MR.CREDIT is most likely to improve.

Seoul Race 2: Class 6 (1300M) Special Weight A/KRW 30 million

(11) RAON BLAIDE is done with 3^rd in both so far starting at 1200M and most recently at 1300M on November 8^e when you come from midfield. He has shown a fast finish so the wide draw shouldn’t be a problem and he can peak in third. (3) ROAD TO STAR has worked towards a first victory and has registered twice^i.e more than 1400 million as of November 29^e when it is close to the pace everywhere. Maia is rising for the first time and that could be enough to make him the pick of the market. (9) BLACK KINGDOM was an improved 2^i.e at the start of number two on November 22^i.e. He seemed much happier on this run than he did in the 1000m on his debut and should be at the finish line. (7) EUNPA BOOSTER and (2) BEST JOY are the other two that will be on the market.

Seoul Race 3: Class 6 (1400M) Special Weight A/KRW 30 million

Only mares in this girl. After performing 4^e on debut it was (1) CATCH RACE 5^e of thirteen in a listed youth company and then a solid 7^e of fifteen in the G2 Breeders’ Cup Rookie over this distance in Busan a month ago. Back in much shallower water, she will be the big favorite today to take her first victory. (3) BEAUTIFUL TUNE UP was an improved 4^e at 1300M on December 6^e. Here she returns quickly and from a good gate she can come closer. (10) MACHEON WORLD has a 2^i.e only placed on her record in October and that’s enough to put her in the placement frame here. (7) WORLD HWAHAP and (2) OUTSTANDING GIRL are others who could compete for the minors.

Seoul Race 4: Handicap Class 5 (1400M) / KRW 45 million

After an ordinary debut, (11) MYEONG DREAM has won consecutive races in the 1200M and most recently and all filly affairs in this class above 1400M on November 16^e when convenient anywhere. She can stay in this class weighing just 1.5kg and she will be a big favorite to make it three in a row. (7) JIJON BULPAE tops his class after maiden win at start four over 1400M on November 9^e when convenient at all. He loses 3 kg and that is enough to have him back at the finish line. (5) TAEGISAN KING returned from eight months’ absence on November 22^i.e and although he finished through the field, the margins were not great and he would have to suit up fitter for the run. (6) WANGCHOEGO and (9) STUNNING SERVE are other place chances.

Seoul Race 5: Handicap Class 5 (1300M) / KRW 45 million

After performing 4^e on debut (6) CLUTCH MAGIC was a winner on start number two over the 1300M, showing pace throughout and scoring comfortably. He’s higher in the class, but he’s 8 pounds lighter and he can go back-to-back. (10) REVERENCE is also at the top of the class after a first win, in his case after the fifth time of asking. It was coming and it arrived at this distance at 1300 meters when he cleverly raced through. It weighs less and although it draws a little wider than ideal, it measures up. (8) SILLAUI FIGHTER has failed to impress in two attempts at this level since winning in August, but an apprentice claiming 4kg could put him in contention. (9) WIDAEHAN HAMSEONG and (5) LASER RUN are other place chances.

Seoul Race 6: Handicap Class 5 (1700M) / KRW 45 million

Two stablemates at the top here. (1) POWERFUL SLEW first reached this distance on November 30^e and it obviously worked out as he secured his first win as he came well off the pace. He’s higher in class but 3kg lighter and he can back up. (11) NAMSAN MINYEO is also one for one at 1700M after taking her first win in September. She has since run 3^rd and 2^i.e in two attempts in this class, both over 1800M, and she has every chance to overcome her stablemare here. (2) Mr. TAEYANG came from a long way back and won over 1300 million in his debut on November 8^e. He’s higher in class and in travel, but neither of those should be a problem, and he can get to the finish line. (9) CHRYSOL DONGAHE and (3) WONPYEONG GANGJA others on the hunt.

Seoul Race 7: Handicap Class 4 (1800M) / KRW 60 million

(5) NASSAU CHAT broke through at start fourteen at Class 5 level in August and has maintained his three-inning form since returning to this class with a 4^e and a pair of 2^i.e place finishes, all at this distance. He stays under a light weight, he draws well and he can win this. (9) CHRYSOL STONE won her first three starts and was quickly promoted to this level before struggling when pulled wide by over a mile and using a lot of energy to get up to pace before wilting on November 22^i.e. She has since been tried again and under a light weight and with CC on she can get another chance. (3) ART CATCHER raised just over 1700 million last time and could be worth a shot at 1800 million on its first attempt at a one-way price. (4) VICTORY QUEEN and (10) POWER ETCHED others to consider on a place line.

Seoul Race 8: Handicap Class 4 (1400M) / KRW 60 million

(6) BEST PITCH is a perfect three for three with wins between 1000M and 1300M and handled both adroitly and off the pace. He’s in class and tripping a little, but neither of those should be a problem, and he can continue on his merry way here. (7) COMPLETE BRO won consecutive races in August and September and then ran 4^e at 1300M at Class 5 level on November 15^e. He walks out of class here, but that gives him a 5kg weight drop, which should make him very competitive. (11) VINCERO KING was a winner in this class and distance two starts back and although his is 4.5kg higher than the mark he won that day he comes in in consistent form and could be close again. (5) BEAUTIFULLY LONG and (1) POWERBAND other contenders.

Seoul Race 9: Handicap Class 4 (1200M) / KRW 60 million

(4) CRAZY STAR was the first winner at the end of September at start three in a double-fast time over 1200M. He returned on November 16^e and ran 4^e in the listed youth company, and the Omaha Beach gelding will be a heavy favorite today to return to winning ways. (8) SEJONG POWER was a fair 3^rd on debut in this class and distance on November 8^eestablish midfield and run further. He should have come on the run and can be present in this. (11) GAMSAUI HIM was 2^i.e upon debut before running 7^e in the same Listed Juvenile breed as Crazy Star was 4^e in and that’s enough to have him here in the fight. (7) WHIZ FIGHTER and (9) UNIVERSAL are the other main odds.

Seoul Race 10: Handicap Class 3 (1200M) / KRW 75 million

(1) DOKKI DRAGON was a beaten favorite when 2^i.e in this class over 1400M on November 8^e but it wasn’t a bad effort and he had two of today’s rivals behind him. He comes back on a stage he has won twice and from the inside he is the one to beat today. (2) DUSON OPEN was 4^e on that November 8th^e race, because he had led early. She was a smart class and distance winner two starts back and although she carries 4kg more than she did in that win, she performs well to take the lead here and can get to the finish. (5) REAL DEAL was further back in the same race, but that was his first start in five months and with five top three finishes from six attempts at the distance he could get another chance here. (8) BONGHWA STAY and (9) ENDING FIRE others in the frame.

Seoul Race 11: Handicap Class 2 (2000M) / KRW 90 million

Wide open final. (5) ECLIPSE THE KING was 3^rd in the Korean Derby on May and 3^rd in the listed Ilgan Sports in September with a Class 3 win over a mile in between. His last was another 3^rd about what was his first attempt in this class on November 1^st when you race at pace. He takes the 2000M for the first time and he can win. (10) G-MOTION was 4^e in the Ilgan Sports, but then won in this class and distance on October 18^e. He followed with 2^i.e takes place on November 16^eagain in this class and distance, but today a student takes 4 kg off his back and that means he is in good shape. (6) JISAN FORCE has won his last three at 1800M and goes one step further in his class here. He weighs 4.5 kg and can be competitive. (11) DRONE KILLER, who defeated G Motion when he won on November 16^e race, and (3) BROWN GOLD are the other main odds.
