Sen. Slotkin says that DEM Socialist NYC candidate Mamdani represents ‘new generation’ of leaders who want young voters

Sen. Elissa Slotkin, D-Mich., Suggested that the mayor of New York City Zohran Mamdani represents the “new generation” of leaders of leaders of the young Democrats.

From his earlier police convictions to his defense of people who use the expression “Globalize the Intifada”, Mamdani’s record of extreme left-wing statements has put both Republicans and Democrats on a high alert.

Slotkin spoke on Monday evening with NBC News correspondent Julie Tsirkin after her town hall. While Tsirkin noted That the crowd “consisted of white seniors and older voters,” Slotkin repeated Overtures for the economic concerns of young people.

“I think this is the existential issue of our time, a shrinking middle class and this idea that young people have the feeling that they have done everything well, and they do not have the same opportunities their parents had, and they feel frustration,” Slotkin said the correspondent.

“And the second is that they want to see a new generation of leadership. I mean, I am 49 years old, so I am a good deal older than many of our youngest voters, and I am like spring chicken in the Senate. So they don’t see themselves in chosen leadership,” she added.

Tsirkin also asked whether the fame of the costs of living is the reason why Mamdani won such a surprising victory in New York.

“Yes,” Slotkin agreed. “I said very openly that I don’t do that – I would never be called an expert in the politics of New York City, but the two messages were like a flashing red light. How can you miss them? People are still extremely focused on the costs of life and how they cannot get ahead. Still the motivating issue, and then number two, they want that generation of it.”

“I may not agree with a number of things that Mr. Mamdani suggests, but it is difficult to miss the message of those elections, which I think it was very equal to the elections we had in November,” she added. “Costs of living are still the biggest problem for people I spoke to.”
