The SECL Chhattisgarh Open will open the 2026 DP World Professional Golf Tour of India season at the Fairway Golf & Lake Resort in New Raipur from Tuesday.
The purse for the event was Rs 1 crore in the first edition, won by Shaurya Bhattacharya last year, and has been increased to Rs 1.5, the DP World PGTI said.
A field of 126 professionals, including 47 who earned their playing rights at the Qualifying School in Ahmedabad last week, will be seen in action. The top 50 and ties are eligible.
Top Indian professionals in the fray include Veer Ahlawat, Om Prakash Chouhan, Manu Gandas, Angad Cheema and Arjun Prasad, to name a few.
There are 16 foreign professionals in the field from nine different countries.
Last week, the PGTI announced a landmark multi-year partnership with DP World, with the global logistics leader taking the title and official umbrella partner.
Great success
Speaking ahead of the event, Arjun Sao, Deputy Prime Minister and Sports Minister of Chhattisgarh said, “After the grand success of the maiden edition of the Chhattisgarh Open, this demonstrates our commitment to promoting golf and positioning Chhattisgarh as a hub for national sporting events.
“Organizing such events showcases Chhattisgarh’s facilities, organizational capabilities and growing sports culture.”
PGTI President Kapil Dev added, “We are excited to return for the second edition thanks to the continued support of the Deputy CM, the state government and local stakeholders.
“Such tournaments play a vital role in providing competitive opportunities to our professionals while contributing to the growth of the sport in emerging golf destinations like Chhattisgarh.”
The Fairway Golf & Lake Resort is located in Nava Raipur, which was planned as an integrated community offering leisure and recreation.
The 6,000-metre Par-69 course is located on the banks of the 450-acre Jhanjh Lake and is surrounded by a 500-acre forest. It is the first 18-hole course developed in central India.
