Sean O’Malley recently acknowledged that fans don’t want him to team up with Petr Yan again anytime soon. O’Malley is currently in a two-fight losing streak and will look to break that when he takes on Song Yadong at UFC 324.
‘Suga’ is confident that he can deliver a great performance against Yadong. Then he wants to reverse things with Yan, the current and two-time UFC bantamweight kingpin. O’Malley recently expressed interest in the rematch, saying:
“I’m going out to beat Song Yadong, and me and Petr in the White House. People say, ‘You’ve suffered two defeats, we don’t want to see that fight.’ Tell me on January 25th you don’t want to see Sean vs Petr. Give your opinion after this fight.

However, fans on social media have not supported the idea.
Fans want Petr Yan vs. Sean O’Malley 2 does not
On his coach Tim Welch’s podcast, ‘Suga’ confessed that the recent reception from fans on YouTube has made him realize that the crowd of Petr Yan vs. Sean O’Malley 2 doesn’t want to see.
“Suga vs. Petr in the White House, America vs. Russia, but again, fans don’t want to see it. I saw it on YouTube [poll]. Okay, you’re right, you can watch Petr vs Merab, go ahead, I’ll stay put. I will give a masterful performance, and you will miss it.”

Earlier this month at UFC 324, Petr Yan bungled Merab Dvalishvili’s fourth title defense and dethroned the latter. But with ‘The Machine’ being the most active champion in 2025, the promotion, Yan and the MMA community believe the Georgian has earned a title rematch.
Dvalishvili has also stated that the promotion has assured him a title rematch when he is ready. He already is back in the gym and prepares in every possible way to win the trilogy against Yan, who is now at 1-1.
