Former SBS head of Scripted to boost Queensland content and attract screen projects to its many destinations.
Former SBS head of Scripted, Julie Eckersley, has been appointed Executive Director of Screen Content at Screen Queensland, succeeding Dr Belinda Burns, who was Chief Creative Officer.
During her time at SBS she was recognized as Commissioner of the Year and commissioned shows such as Four years later, safely at home, while the men were away, erotic stories And Swift Street. She was previously Creative Producer at Matchbox Pictures.
As Executive Director of Screen Content, she will help shape Queensland as a leading screen production destination for film, television, online content and digital games, supporting local storytellers, developing homegrown projects and productions, and providing opportunities for both emerging and established practitioners.
Jacqui Feeney, CEO of Screen Queensland, said: “Julie is an exceptional creative with valuable multi-platform experience, combined with a deep understanding of the evolution of our industry, global trends and the realities of screen and gaming innovation.

She starts on November 3.
