Three games survived the storm in the prime ministers of the women and St Andrews University blew Hillhead 6-0 to go to the top of the table and continued their undefeated run. And there were six different scorers – Emily Macdonald, Lucy Jamieson, Charlotte Bosma, Hannah Coull, Amy Edgar and Iona Syme. That is the best start of the St. Andrews students of the Premiership season.
The University of Edinburgh went to the third with a 5-0 win at Grange. The students marched a lead of two goals in the first quarter, Jojo Muhl opened with a well -processed penalty corner and then a solo run by Connie Roxburgh founded Harri Platt to end with a deflection. Edinburgh doubled their count in the next quarter when Cat Nelli calmed down to complete the keeper and score to be followed by a new penalty corner finish from Muhl. The German was also involved in the ultimate goal in the last quarter, she took a rebound and sent the ball to Harri Bradley to close.
At the lower echelons of the table, the 3-2 victory of Uddingston at GHK was perhaps a bit of a attention grit, and it still leaves the Glasgow side without any points, but pushes Uddy just into the top six. Priya Wanked scored twice while Katie Watson got the other for Uddy, and Lucy Williamson and Autumn Hunter got GHK’s goals.
The only competition that survived the storm in the premiership of the men was in St. Andrews, where Hillhead came at the top for their first victory of the season. Consequently, they go in two places in the table to the ninth and away from the lower sports. Fraser Ward and Ton Cole were on goal for the Glasgow side while Patrick Ridge scored for the students.
