TREFOR 10/1 In general – 0.75 points e/w (6 places, 1/5 opportunities)
Tefor is the horse we are going for to land the £ 17k on the bonus race. When we land it, this will be our 4th bonus race victory in 34 months, together with 10 Schep 6 victories, at the same time. We have absolutely blissed De Schep 6 in the last 3 years for almost £ 1 million and although the latter is a bit waiting a bit since our last victory, it is very welcome and I am sure we will still be a huge form with the scoop 6.
This is a very competitive handica race with 22 runners that would always be the case. The bag will not make it easy for us, but that has not stopped us in the past and with a bit of luck in running, I am quiet for sure that TRFOR can do the company for us.
TREFOR comes in the race after a best effort of the career last time, winning a very competitive handicap at the York Ebor meeting of a 93 handicap marking. He is the handicap 5 pounds to a handica marking of 98, so I needed a different career, but I just couldn’t help but noticed him. The faster they went, the better he traveled and it is clear that he loves these large field handicaps. The last time he was won in York, he stood before 19 rivals and it really brought him the best out of him. With 22 runners here it is almost the same.
Tefor is a horse that gets 6F, gets 5F, but this interim of 5 1/2F is simply perfect for him. The journey on the previous time -out of York was 5 1/2F and see what happened, he won well enough and I think he had a little more in the tank, as when the man came to him, he went again.
Some people prefer a middle draw here, but I think the trefor draw is simply perfect for his style of running. Undoubtedly they will all follow in the middle of the course whether you are drawn high or low and that will give Tefor a nice clear run (inside to the middle). It is the same position he came from to win in York when he was drawn 7.
Kieran Shoemark is back in the saddle and on his last two runs he has the very best out of the horse, so it’s good to see him on board again.
I expect he to travel sweet, get a little cover before he is switched for a late run. I don’t see him having many traffic problems from his draw because he can easily be switched to win his race.
Furthermore, Tefor has a good form at Doncaster with a victory over the course in June and a 3rd on the track a month later.
The soil is described as good, which is absolutely perfect and with the weather dry tomorrow, it will only dry out, another very positive.
We have sailed a few in Air Force One who defeated TRefor the previous time -out and I think he can confirm that form. Air Force One is a hold -up horse and with 22 runners he will certainly find a little traffic.
The other horse high on my list was the 2nd, Apollo One last year. The booking by Colin Keane looks strong, but he is a 7 -year -old and certainly his better days behind him.
Addison Gray is in the top class form in the race, but he has done it at a lower level and will have to get up seriously to win this. Maybe he can, but I would rather know what horses are capable of being on the table when £ 17k is on the table.
Tefor just taps every box for me, the race will be run, he is a rapidly improved 4 -year -old, he travels well through his races, he has a nice draw, so avoiding traffic problems, he has a jockey that is very strong in a finish in these sprints and trainer Charles Hills knows the time of day with these sprinters.
I do not place a Tefor in the competition of these horses, but to give you an idea of how well Charles Hills deals with sprinters, you only have Battaash and Muharar, two horses who were at the absolute top of the game about Sprints that group 1 after group 1 won.
We have one shot here, one horse, one race and after we spent the entire week studying the race, Tefor will be the one who brings it home for us.
Come on Tefor.
