Farmingdale, New York | Since the Ryder Cup in Rome in Rome, it is clear that, although Luke Donald is perhaps a captain of the European team, Rory McIlroy is his alpha man, essentially inviting in all the pressure and expectations associated with the most fascinating event in Golf.
It is two years since McIlroy, in the entire glow of another European victory, stated his intention to lead his team to a rare victory on US soil, to make the table when he was ready, an audible exclamation mark in a case that pulses like no other.
Then there is Scottie Scheffler, who hides his lion -hearted nature behind his subdued personality. If the undisputed number 1 player in the world, Scheffler can contain the key to the opportunities of the Americans at Bethpage Black this week, because if he usually plays as he usually does, the American team will work from a position in force.
Honest or not, the burden of expectations is on Scheffler, whose consistent sparkle is his most determining feature. In a team room in which Captain Keegan Bradley, Bryson Dechambeau and Justin Thomas are probably the most appearance, the presence of Scheffler will be enormous.

In a different way than McIlroy, it feels like this is Scheffler’s team. That does not mean that Scheffler will change who he is or how he acts, but only by being himself, he can offer his teammates a contagious self -confidence.
Scheffler is a first among this American team, not that he sees it that way.
“I think we have 12 boys who are all the same. I don’t think one player is more important than the other. I think that is something that is through our team room,” Scheffler said when the idea was put to him on Tuesday morning.
If Scheffler had said it differently, the earth might have moved. He will express his opinion – he has become more willing to share his opinions and has revealed in the process how he is – but he is not extravert.
Scheffler’s friends will tell you that he loves Trash Talking, that offers a window on his renowned competitiveness. The moment can come this weekend when Scheffler takes the floor and delivers a team room message that thunder, but he won’t force it.
“It’s not as if Scottie gets more points for winning a competition than I or JJ Spaun or Collin Morikawa or Xander [Schauffele]Whatever it is. ” – Justin Thomas
As good as he is on the golf course – even McIlroy has admitted that he is trying to do part of what Scheffler is doing on the track – he can be more admitted to how he does not let his performance overshadow who he is.
“He is definitely one of the 12 when it comes to the team. I think it is very cool and unique that everyone in our team is. It is not as if Scottie gets more points for winning a competition than I or JJ Spaun or Collin Morikawa or Xander [Schauffele]Whatever it is, “said Justin Thomas.
As Captain, Bradley has not tipped his hand to who may be linked to Scheffler, but it seems likely that he will play all five sessions. In two earlier Ryder Cup performances, Scheffler has a center of 2-2-3.

Two years ago in Rome, Scheffler played four times without a victory and achieved a shameful place in the history of Ryder Cup when he and Brooks Koepka were beaten, 9 and 7, by Ludvig Åberg and Viktor HOvland in Saturday Foursomes, the most Lopsed Loss Loss ever.
In the last two years in the Ryder Cup and Presidents Cup, Scheffler has been linked to Sam Burns, Russell Henley, Tony Finau, Collin Morikawa and Koepka.
Scheffler laughed at the suggestion that he might have an Aura like Tiger Woods in his bloom.
“I would like to think that I am not difficult to combine with people. I would like to consider myself as someone who is a nice guy and is easy to deal with. I have had several partners over the years and I had had some success,” Scheffler said.
“I think that some of the difficulty you had with playing with Tiger – I mean, I don’t even know what it could be. It could just be the Aura that Tiger Woods was. Sometimes there was nothing but winning golf tournaments and just beating the absolute crap of people’s time and time.”
That sounds familiar nowadays. Regarding a tiger -like aura, Scheffler’s friends seem to keep him grounded.
He’s not [have an aura] For me, but I also feel that I know him well enough that, even if he did, I would not give him that credit and that he would come to his head because he is competitive and can be chirpy enough, that that is the last thing I need that he knows that if I felt like that. I’m sure he is doing some people, and rightly so, right? “Said Thomas.
Scheffler is one of 12 this week. But he is a very big one.
