The Liv Golf Michigan on Saturday opened with a para -drop and ended with an Imagine Dragons concert.
In between there was a party: loud music on every hole with people dancing (what is this rhythmic hand -dancing folk nowadays? But I wander); activities for the children; And a lot of food and drink (I saw a man fainting on the floor – he was with what looked like different friends, so I didn’t call EMT).
And oh yes. There was golf.

On Saturday the bustle swelled at the Cardinal.
Friday was fairly well attended. I would put it on the same footing with some of the LPGA events on weekday that I attended. Fans were a deep around many greens and tee boxes. In the central area near the first, fourth, fourteenth and seventeenth green, and the second, eighth and sixteenth tee -boxes fans were two and three deep. Along Fairways between Tee and Green there were few observers (read more of my thoughts on Friday in Liv Michigan on the link).
My best gamble is that on Saturday doubled, or perhaps tripled. For the most important combinations, fans were three and four deep around T pieces and greens. The same groups had fans along the Fairway edges.

Bryson Deschambeau and Taylor Gooch play photos of the Fairway.
But only a few minutes later had a less well -known group of scarce spectators.

Yet it was generally a full house.
I think the match play format has confused more than a few fans. One asked me why a player grabbed his ball on the green. Another – in a prime position to see Phil and Rahmbo to see on eighteen – asked why they stopped on seventeen (the answer was that Rahm 2 was after 17.)
As a teacher I learned that if a child asks a question, half of the class want to know the answer. I suspect that there were many people at Liv Michigan who are not “core” golfers or golffans. They were out of curiosity or for the concert. That’s fine. Maybe they will enjoy the experience and want to go to other golf tournaments.

I actually have many questions from spectators throughout the round: where do the buses pick up? Where is the nearest refreshment tent? And at the concert: “Is there another gate. I can’t get through the crowd to go out as I came in?”
I think I got the questions because I was wearing a badge on a Lanyard. Spectators had wrist ribbons.

One thing that made me chuckle were the lines of golf carts that are preparing to take the players to their starting holes at the start of the day. It seemed exactly ranked on the carts with every turning for an outing.
Another thing that amused me was the volunteers on every tee box that held “zip it” signs up for silence, while music spoke in the background (yes, the signs said “zip it”, not “quiet”).

While Richard Bland tried three out of three to go off, his Caddy continued to shout at a Liv Golf Media Cart to stop driving, but they couldn’t hear him for the music.
The Mickelson – Rahm coupling swell all day long. By the time it ended at the seventeenth (Rahm 2 and 1), it was madness. Seventeen is exactly on the edge of the central core, so it seems that everyone there was migrated to the last putt of that match.

Mickelson hung around to his enormous credit to sign signatures.
The Deschambeau – Gooch combination always had a crowd around it.
Interesting is that when I caught up with the Koepka -Lahiri coupling, it was largely not -percepted.

The Imagine Dragons concert at the end of the competition game was your fundamental human crush. I am not the target group for Imagine Dragons at all, but everyone really seemed to enjoy it.
Winning teams from Saturday were Legion XIII, Crusherers and Stingers. I think. The leaderboard of the LIV website is incomprehensible.
I have no idea who is in those teams, so I looked up:
- Legion XIII: Rahm, Hatton, McKibbin and Surratt.
- Crushers: Decchambeau, Casey, Howell and Lahiri
- Stingers: Oosthuizen, Burmester, Grace and Schwartzel.
Looking ahead, Sunday’s rounds are a stroke game, where the score of each team comes from all four scores of players in the team.
Teams earn final positions based on their finishes in the respective levels.
1st-3rd finalists of the Bracket Championship
4th-6th-freezer teams of the semi-final of the championship
7th-9th-winning teams of the Bracket ranking
10th-12th-freezer teams of the bracket ranking
