Mid-Canterbury Reinswoman Sarah O’Reilly is back to doing light tasks at Brent and Tim White’s Ashburton Barn.
O It required an operation, but a subsequent CT scan revealed that she would need a sign in her arm to have it completely healed.
“I had my X -ray and they say it is all healed now and I went back to work for the first time today,” said O’Reilly.
She only works three hours a day.
“I just drive a few quiet horses in track work. I went to the gym every day to do the exercises I got through the physio.”
O’Rilly will slowly build her up for hours in the coming weeks, but is not certain when she returns to racing day.
American Me is the horse she missed the most while she loves driving.
O’Rilly drove the eight -year -old in six of his sixteen victories, including his most important victories in the Methven Cup, the Group One Invercargill Cup and the Roy Purdon Memorial.
Sarah has had a number of worrying times because of the time the injury lasted to cure.
“I was worried after my operation, but I just kept going and pushed on. I did everything I had to do, but it was pretty painful.”
She says that her family has been her greatest support in the fourteen months that she has been off the stage.
“They have been positive and helpful with my recovery.”

O
“She was not lucky in the running, parked sitting. She was nominated for Timaru this week, so hopefully she will get a better run.”
O’Rilly has attended most Sunday racing meetings in the Canterbury region, so she still feels contact.
The talented and popular driver is expected to be well supported by trainers when she returns to the circuit.
