Leroy Sane says he chose to join Galatasaray because of “the size of the club” and “how much interest they have shown” this summer, despite receiving countless offers to leave Bayern Munich.
Prior to a potential free transfer to the Turkish Super Lig Giants, the 29-year-old attacker arrived early in Istanbul on Thursday morning at the welcome of a hero.
Displayed with a Galatasaray scarf draped around his neck, waved Sane and smiled wide to the large crowd of supporters who had gathered outside Ataturk Airport.

In an attempt to keep Sané, Bayern the Germany International had offered a lucrative new contract to extend his stay for the coming season and then.
Sané, however, opted for a move to Galatasaray, where he is expected to earn £ 11 million per season an appropriate £ 11 million, after he had changed his representation into super-agent Pini Zahavi.
“The atmosphere here was always great. It was very, very loud. That’s why I am happy to be back,” Sané told Turkish media on his arrival in Istanbul.
“I can’t wait to play my first game for the fans.”
Arsenal was said to be one of the clubs that closely monitor Sané, and the winger would have been interested in moving to the Emirates.
However, Athletics Reports that Sané insisted on a more direct decision – which Galatasaray immediately delivered – because the Gunners were not assertive enough in their approach.
“There were many offers. But Galatasaray as a whole made a huge impression on me,” Sané added.

“I was very impressed by the atmosphere, because of the size of the club, how much they wanted me, because of how much interest they have shown in me. That’s why I am here in Galatasaray.”
Sane went to his Instagram page on Thursday 12 June 2025 to give a sincere farewell message to fans of Bayern Munich.
“Best fans of Bayern, after 5 intense years here in Munich, I decided to start a new chapter in the coming season. I am incredibly proud that I have worn the sweater of the best and largest club in Germany for more than 200 meters and will always cherish the titles we have won together,” Sane wrote.
“Thank you to the club, the coaching staff, everyone behind the scenes, my
Teammates, and especially you, the fans, for the time we have shared and the memories we made. I will be grateful for my time here @fcbayern! “
