Mr. Romeo said that Talune is an example of the large houses that Davey St in the early to the mid -19th century adorned.

“I usually receive a strong buyer interest from Interstate, but believe that there will be a strong interest from local buyers looking at investment opportunities in the commercial space around Hobart’s CBD,” he said.

“This property offers a wonderful commercial opportunity, but I believe that the ultimate buyer will use it as a home and for commercial use.

“It will be the perfect home office/company.”

Talune is a distinguished Georgian residence that stands as proof of Hobart’s colonial prosperity.

Built in the 1850s for successful shipping company Edward Michael Fisher, the substantial mansion with two floors was designed to project wealth and status.

Fisher, who held several board positions, commissioned architect James Alexander Thomson to create the impressive home for his wife.

The Fisher family maintained ownership until 1929, after which the building served various residential and commercial purposes.

Mr. Romeo said that the architecturally important building retains its original characteristics, including a symmetrical façade with two -storey corner pilasters, cast window architraves and a distinctive six -member access door flanked by Tuscan columns.

“The house includes a large vestibule, formal and informal sitting rooms, six bedrooms, two bathrooms and double kitchens, all with original decorative elements such as cornices, rosettes, wooden floors and high ceilings,” he said.

The building is set for a considerable allocation of 1045 m² and includes carefully maintained gardens enclosed by low stone walls with iron handrails.

The fully restored stone stables, built around 1836, now act as a separate house with two bedrooms of 179 m², complete with a rural kitchen and living spaces.

An extra restored school space of 45 square meters has a kitchenette, while the site contains a private -parter garden with border hedging, storage facilities and extensive parking space.

The most important location of the building offers useful access to the central business district of Hobart, eateries, cultural institutions, the University of Tasmania and leading educational facilities.

Expressions will close on November 6, unless sold earlier.
