San Francisco | Fritz leads team world to Laver Cup Glory

At the end of this year’s first day of this year’s Laver Cup, Team Europe saw a comfortable lead in which it was noted that no team had won the cup in the previous seven years of 1-3 below the opening day.

They put their hearts at stake. On paper, many people said they didn’t see inland roads to take this off, but we shocked the world Other agassi

Team World, thanks to two excellent versions of their number 1 player, Taylor Fritz, blew that stat apart under the supervision of the new captain of Andre Agassi, while he led the team world in the laundering of their opponents on the second day, and then delivered the vital points to claim a 15-9 victory in the third general win in the third overall.

“We’re going to have a nice evening,” Fritz said when the victory celebrations started. “Certainly some champagne in the dressing room in a few minutes.”

With the Cup score on 12-9 in favor of Team World Fritz, went to court with the responsibility to claim the match for the home team against a player who was higher in two places than he was in world terms.

And he turned out to be good at the task, because, after a strong performance in which he checked the basic line and used his net game in favor, he had a 6-3 7-6 (4) defeat about Zverev to claim the 3 points and take his team about the 13-point finishing line.

The German raised his game in the second set when both players fought for supremacy, but it was the American who found a different equipment so he could hold and finally closed the match 6-3 7-6 (4) after 44 minutes, appropriate with a backhand volley winner.

The day started with Team Europe, five-time cup holders, with a huge obstacle if they would retain the trophy that they regained in Berlin last year and the possibility was slim because they needed three victories of four games to destroy the commander 9-3 that held their opponent about them.

The double opened the piece and Team Europe got their fightback with Carlos Alcaraz who collaborated Casper Ruud for a heartbreaking 7-6 (4) 6-1 victory over Alex Michelsen and Reilly Opelka to reduce the 9-6 point shortage.

Jakub Mensik then lost the first of the day singles of an in-shape Alex de Minaur 6-3 6-4 to bring Team World to a point of the winning line, 12-6.

It was left to Carlos Alcaraz to keep the hope of Team Europe alive and he did this by putting an end to the winning series of Francisco Cerundolo in the competition with a stunning performance of 91 minutes to descend the Argentinian 6-2 6-1 and take the overall score to 12-9.

Unfortunately for the Europeans, Zverev was not able to complete, which turned out to be a remarkable fightback.

Speaking after his victory, the Minaur, who saved all five breakpoints with which he was confronted and wore five points of two singles matches during the weekend at the business of his team, expressed the feelings of all players when he said: “It is a great team event.

In the meantime, comments on their strong Vechtback that started with his Doubles victory with Ruud, said Alcaraz: “We remained really strong, really solid. We did what we had to do and I think it worked reasonably well.”

But Fritz’s remark really illustrated what it meant for the winners.

“Just seeing these guys on the couch that is pumped up, see a legend of the sport as Andre who jumps out of his chair that cheers for me, it is impossible not to be fired and just giving everything you have. It was a great feeling to eventually conquer it.”
