The 33-year-old was dropped from the starting line-up after last weekend’s 2-0 win over West Ham United and was once again named on the bench for Wednesday’s 1-1 draw with Sunderland at Anfield.
After losing his place in the team, a new report has linked Salah with an exit. The Telegraph claims the Saudi Pro League is willing to fund a deal if he wants to leave Liverpool.
Salah is still in Slot’s Liverpool plans amid transfer rumours
Ahead of Saturday’s trip to Elland Road to face Leeds United, Slot stressed that Salah remains part of his plans and is always in contention to start for the Reds.
“Every player is in my mind to start, because we have so many good players,” Slot said. “Mo has been an exceptional player for us. He is always in my thoughts to start or come in.”
“He’s been so influential for this club for six or seven years, for me and for his teammates. It’s normal that when I’m not playing players who have just joined the club, we talk about it, so it’s completely normal for people to talk about it when he’s not playing.”
Asked if he understands the talk surrounding Salah being on the bench, Slot said: “Of course, and he deserves that because of the player he has been for this club and for his teammates for six or seven years. It’s completely normal.”
“If I’m not playing players that I just brought to the club, we’re already talking about it, so it’s completely normal for people to talk about it when he’s not playing.”
