29-year-old Southpaw Mizuki Hiruta checked the battle of the opening bell, using her Superior footwork and boxing IQ to keep Cardenas at a distance during the 10-round competition. Work under The guidance of coach Manny Robles in Los Angeles, Hiruta has capitalized the tendency of Cardenas to exceed her attacks. The timing of the champion was especially clear when they prevented the forward progress of Cardenas with precision attacks. Although Cardenas entered the game with an unbeaten 9-0 record, she was unable to compete for the title after a weight of 115.8 pounds, 0.8 pounds above the champion limit.

The Mexican challenger, who had come out of an upset victory in previously unbeaten Bree Howling, showed her typical aggression, but found limited success against Hiruta’s technical approach. Cardenas never took a backward step during the fight and pressed pressure when he had a superstill that would have given her a victory, but not the championship belt because of her weightsmiss.

This victory marked the third fight of Hiruta on American soil in 2025, with all three place in California. The champion found success training in Los Angeles after she felt that her career had stagnated in Japan, where she had only participated six times in her first three professional years. Her decision to move and work with Robles has proved favorable because she has remained active and has improved her combat possibilities.

The fight served as the Co-Main event on a 360-promotion card with the majority of Omar Trinidad against Lorenzo Parra in the main event. The UFC Fight Pass broadcast showed the constant evolution of Hiruta and both a boxer and the performer, where the champion is known for the inclusion of Japanese pop culture elements in its Ring inputs and the wearing of distinctive costumes. This time she wore a Sailor Moon -Cosplay.

The dominant performance of Hiruta strengthened its position as one of the most important hunters of the division and still marked a successful step in her explained goal of becoming the greatest boxer in Japan, similar to how Shohei Ohtani has conquered American baseball fans. The victory sets up potential future matchups while she continues to chase an undisputed championship status in the Junior Bantamweight Division.

With this fifth successful defending defense, Hiruta has now won 19 consecutive rounds in her last three fights, making her established herself as the hunter to beat in the 115-pound weight class. Her technical improvements under Robles, combined with its natural box Power and tradable personality, position her good for larger opportunities in the competitive Junior Bantam weight landscape.
