Pakistan-opener Sahibzada Farhan has tackled the criticism of his gun-like celebration during the super 4 collision against India in the Asia Cup 2025.
Farhan had raised eyebrows when he reached his half century with a six from Axar Patel and his bat pointed like a gun to the dugout. The gesture quickly became viral and attracted sharp reactions on social media.
Speaking for the next match from Pakistan to Sri Lanka, Farhan said that the celebration was not planned. He explained that it happened in the heat of the moment and insisted that he was not worried about how it was received.
“I usually don’t celebrate it after a fifty, but that day it just came to me. I don’t know how people will take it, and to be honest I don’t mind. The most important thing is to play aggressive cricket, regardless of who the opponent is,” Farhan told reporters.
The right -handed added that fans should expect more of the same when he knew the ropes. “When it comes to touching sixes, you will see that much more in the future,” he said with a smile.
Farhan emphasized that Pakistan’s mentality should be the same against each team, not just India. “It’s not about being aggressive only to India. We have to maintain this approach against each side,” he said.
