India U-17 Ladies football team head coach Joakim Alexanderon, on Sunday, August 17, 2025, mentioned a 23-person team for the Saff U-17 women’s championship Bhutan 2025, which is planned from 20 to 31 August in Thimphu.
Alexandersson, who historically led the India U20S to their first AFC U20 Women’s Asian Cup qualification in two decades earlier this month, will now lead the U17s if they are preparing for the SAFF championship in the run-up to the AFC U17 Women’s Republicies, which are held in October in Kyrgy-Kwalifications.
In a new format that the players will offer more playing time, the Saff U17 Women’s Championship will contain four teams (India, Bhutan, Nepal and Bangladesh) that competes in a double round-robin League. Each team plays six games, and the one with the most points is crowned champions. The young Tigresses start with the campaign against Nepal (August 20), followed by Bangladesh (August 22), Bhutan (24 and 27 August), Nepal (August 29), and finally, Bangladesh again (August 31). All matches are played in the Changlimitang Stadium in Thimphu and are streamed live on the YouTube channel of Sportzzworkz.
