SA Police makes new claims about arrest in Royston Park

The South Australian police claim that a man who did not respond as he was arrested on Thursday morning, “resisting violent” officers, while an investigation continues in the actions taken during the incident.

The police tried on Thursday to arrest a 42-year-old Modbury North Man on Payneham Road on Payneham Road, after she said they witnessed a “fight” between a man and a woman.

The police said that the man “did not respond” when they tried to arrest him.

He was taken to the Royal Adelaide Hospital where he stays in a critical condition, Sa Health said on Friday morning.

The police are investigating the incident and actions of officers on the spot.

In an updated statement that was released on Thursday afternoon, provided to the ABC today, the police claimed that the man “a woman had been attacked” when they intervened.

“While he was stopped, the man violently resisted the police,” the police of SA claimed.

“After he was agreed, he did not respond and the police provided first aid until Saas (SA ambulance service) arrived.”

Sa Police said that her investigation into the case will investigate “all evidence”, including the video of the officers involved by the body.

“The investigation and assessment of all evidence will determine the suitability of the actions taken by the officers,” said the statement.

The police said earlier on Thursday that no one was shot and no taser was used.

The incident led on Thursday morning to the closure of Payneham Road between Lambert Road and Lower Portush Road.

The roads have since been reopened.
