Ryder Cup winners: a year-to-year list of earlier champions, results, scores and locations

The Ryder Cup has been held since 1927 and the 45th edition takes place from 26-28 September in Bethpage Black in Farmingdale, New York.

Europe is the defending champion, who won in Italy in 2023, 16 1/2 to 11 1/2.

The competitions have undergone changes over the years. It started as the US versus Great Britain, but then concerned Ireland from 1973-77. For the ’79 competitions, all from Continental Europe were eligible to fight for Team Europe.

The biennial competition was not disputed from 1939-45, due to the Second World War. The 2001 matches were postponed to ’02, because of the 9/11 attacks in the US and the 2020 edition was moved to ’21, due to the COVID-19 Pandemie.
