Ryder Cup stars confirmed for Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship – Golf News | Golf magazine

Ryder Cup Stars and Rolex series Winners Matt Fitzpatrick, Tyrrell Hatton and Robert Macintyre are the newest players confirmed for the Abu Dhabi HSBC championship, which take place from 6-9 November at YAS Links.

The trio will become a member of Reigning Masters Champion and Career Grand Slam winner Rory McIlroy in a world-class field for the opening event of the DP World Tour Play-Offs on Yas Island.

The quartet all played a role in the astonishing 16½–11½ victory of Europe in the United States at the Ryder Cup 2023 in Marco Simone Golf & Country Club in Rome, and this week wants to defend the trophy in Bethpage Black in New York.

World number Nine Macintyre enjoyed a strong season worldwide and finished second in the US Open at Oakmont Country Club and the BMW championship in Caves Valley Golf Club, and in seventh place in the 153rd Open Championship at Royal Portush.

Macintyre said: “I really enjoy closing the season in the middle and I am looking forward to returning to Abu Dhabi for the first of two major events later this year. It is a strong start of my year, and with some good memories of Yas Links, I hope to end that momentum and give a chance to end the season.”

Hatton, the winner of the Abu Dhabi Championship 2019, returns after a second place at YAS Links last year. He is currently fourth in the race to Dubai Rankings after his victory at the Hero Dubai Desert Classic in January and a bound fourth result at the US Open 2025.

“I have some great memories playing in the VAE, especially winning Abu Dhabi in 2019 and this year in Dubai,” said Hatton. “Yas Island is an incredible destination with so much to see and do, and this tournament always has a fantastic atmosphere, so I am looking forward to returning to Abu Dhabi and the DP World Tour play-offs.

Fitzpatrick, the 2022 US Open Champion, has had a consistent 2025 campaign with six top ten finishes worldwide, including a bound fourth result on the 153rd Open in Northern Ireland.

The nine times DP World Tour winner will build on at his recent momentum and wants to add another Rolex series title to his name when the play-offs will start.

“I am really looking forward to returning to Abu Dhabi and let the DP World Tour play-offs start,” Fitzpatrick said. “Abu Dhabi is always a great place to play, and I hope to take my recent shape and give myself the chance to have a strong end to the season.”

The Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship was staged by the Abu Dhabi Sports Council and the DP World Tour and is the first event of the end of the season of the DP World Tour, which leads directly to the DP World Tour Championship where the Race will be crowned. The top 70 available players at the end of the back 9 events will gather in Abu Dhabi for the fourth Rolex series event of the year as the season ends.
