Rookie point guard Ryan Nembhard has emerged as a bright spot during an otherwise uneven season in Dallas, quickly earning the respect of teammates with his play and approach.
Despite being only 6 feet tall, the Canadian guard has shown the ability to control games and influence wins, something that has not gone unnoticed in the locker room.
According to Grant Afseth of Dallas Hoops Journal, teammates have expressed their praise, including Brandon Williams, who recently stepped out of the starting lineup in favor of Nembhard.
“Ryan is nice, I’m not going to lie,” Williams said. He emphasized that Nembhard’s size does not limit him. “He gets to the rim. People look at his size a little bit, but he uses his size to his advantage.”
Williams also highlighted Nembhard’s ability to create for others and keep the offense moving.
“He can relate to people, he plays for others, and everyone on our team enjoys playing with him,” he said.
Even if Nembhard isn’t directly mentioned on the stat sheet, his influence is palpable.
“Even if he doesn’t get an assist, the ball is moving around the floor with him and everyone likes that,” Williams added, noting the guard’s unselfish style.
“We all see it and I think that contributed to our victory.”
Both Cooper Flagg and Jason Kidd believe Flagg trying his hand at point guard will help him in the long run. Story: https://t.co/Hk2oLBbK6e
