Russia claims that new Ukraine wins for Putin-Trump Summit

Russia said on Thursday that her troops had conquered two new settlements in the east of Ukraine on the eve of a top between President Vladimir Putin and the American counterpart Donald Trump.

The Ministry of Defense said that Russian troops conquered the village of Iskra and the small town of Shcherbynivka in the Donetsk region in Ukraine, the Kremlin claimed to have annexed 2022 in September 2022.

Shcherbynivka is close to the MijnStad Toretsk, captured by Russian troops in February, and costianynivka – one of the last major urban areas in the Donetsk region that is still being held by Ukraine.

The Russian army has accelerated its profit in recent months.

The Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zensky on Tuesday admitted that the Russian troops had gone up to 10 kilometers (six miles) in a narrow part of the front line near the coal city of Dobropillia.

The win of the Russian army on Tuesday was the largest for a 24-hour period in more than a year, according to a AFP analysis of data from the US Institute for the Study of War (ISW) established in the US.

In South Russia, 13 people, including two children, were injured on Thursday at a Ukrainian drone attack damaged about 10 residential buildings in Rostov-on-Don, said regional governor Yuri Sliusar on Telegram.

The Russian army claimed to have shot 268 Ukrainian drones and four slips in 24 hours.

In Ukraine, the Air Force said that Russia had fired two rockets and 45 drones at night on Ukrainian territory.

According to the local authorities, two people were injured in the Noord -Sumy region and one in the Kherson region.

Putin and Trump will meet on Friday in Alaska for a top that, according to the Kremlin, would concentrate on “the resolution of the Ukraine crisis”.
