Jameis Winston is expected to start the NFL season 2025 as one of the backups of Russell Wilson on the New York Giants.
For some within the organization that is a situation that some may have been against.
According to Paul Schwartz of the New York PostThere are some within the franchise of the Giants who “preferred Jameis Winston Boven Wilson, in terms of how they came in their visits before both signed at the Giants.”
Even beyond Winston it was noted that Wilson was not exactly the “Apple of the Giants” Eye “when they were looking for a passer -by in a free desk.
“General manager Joe Schoen wanted to act for Matthew Stafford and then preferred to sign Aaron Rodgers before he went to the third choice, giving Wilson a one -year contract for $ 10.5 million, with incentives that can double in that money,” Schwartz wrote.

It is clear that Wilson will start the season as QB1. His status in that position will be based on performance and his belt is probably short, given the circumstances in New York.

Not only did the Giants added the seasoned veteran Winston, but they brought a high -quality choice on the Rookie Jaxson Dart from Ole Miss.
With the 25th general choice, the Giants dart to possibly take over the franchise Quarterback in the future, so that the void filled the cutting of Daniel Jones last season.
If the Giants cannot get a hot start, this will only put the pressure on the coaching staff to consider pulling the plug and pulling the veterans and starting with the Rookie.

For the time being, Wilson has done well to get buy-in from the organization. Not only do the Front Office and the coaching staff seem to be satisfied with its spring sessions, but his receivers have consistently published the one-off super bowl champion.
As far as Winston is concerned, he will continue to play a back -up. After he started his career as a starter at the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the move from Winston to the New Orleans Saints in 2020 was the start of his journey as a backup. In the past five seasons, Winston has only started 17 games. Almost half of those starts came with the Cleveland Browns last season.
Winston threw 13 touchdowns and 12 intercepts for 2,121 yards. He achieved a 2-5 record while he started last season for the browns.
