Rules Guy: Can you remove an interest of a fine if it stands in the way?

The rules of golf are difficult! Fortunately we have the guru. Our guy rules know the book from the front to the back. Do you have a question? He has all the answers.

The thin ride of my play partner came to rest in a non-mowed area 25 meters from the Tee-Box, next to a red pole. The ring hinded his attitude when he hit sideways, which was reasonable, and was on his swing path when he played to the green, which was also reasonable. Anyway, he wanted to remove the red pole. Is that allowed? – David Palmer, Houston, TX

Regardless of what your play partner tried to do, he was allowed to move the red pole as long as the ball was within borders – you are free to move movable obstacles all over the world, at least around golf courses.

That said, if it is white bets that define the border, they cannot be moved, nor get free lighting from them. That is a black and white phone call, and if you already knew this, color rules are impressed.

Our course has an in-course OB to protect players on an adjacent fairway. About 240 meters out, in the Fairway mentioned, is the last OBBelang. Our Pro says that the OB extends on a line in parallel to the last two OB deployment ‘for an indefinite period’. I say that OB ends with the last interest. Who is correct? – Tim Slauter, West Lafayette, Ind.

The answer must be specified by the local rule that creates the border; If not, the pro, like the de facto committee, is the decision maker.

Important to note: boundaries and markings ‘stop’ not alone, and when a marking ‘ends’, it is usually binding in another marking or is extended to infinity. Your Pro seems to refer to the last, which is generally indicated by a “double ball” marking, with two posts placed in a garden apart.

About what the marking should have to Be, that depends on the nature of this internal OB and the geography – and is above our wage rate.
