Top seed Alex de Minaur has a blockbuster first-round match to his name against Arthur Fils in Rotterdam. On Tuesday’s playing order, Dutch favorite Tallon Greekpoor also faces Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard.
(1) Alex de Minaur vs. Arthur Son
Fils’ comeback in tennis went well in Montpellier last week. Having not played since the Toronto Masters last summer, the 21-year-old Frenchman defeated Valentin Royer and Ugo Blanchet before losing in the quarter-finals to eventual champion Felix Auger-Aliassime.

That’s the good news for a player who missed so much time due to a back injury. The bad news, of course, is that he has to face number 1 in the first round of the ABN AMRO Open. De Minaur won their most recent meeting in four sets at Wimbledon in 2024 after Fils made the most of their first meeting in straight sets on the red clay of Barcelona earlier that season. The eighth-ranked Aussie is coming off a quarter-final appearance in Melbourne and he has finished second each of the last two years in Rotterdam, so he should have the upper hand.

(7) Tallon Greek Spoor vs. Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard
Greek Spoor and Mpetshi Perricard will face each other for the second time in their careers on Tuesday. Their only previous match took place last spring in Indian Wells, where Greek Spoor scored a 7-6(3), 6-3 victory.
This should once again be a favorable spot for the 27th seeded Dutchman, who has home field advantage and has reached the semi-finals of this event in two of his last three appearances. Mpetshi Perricard cannot be nearly as confident. The big-serving Frenchman is in a slump and he also suffered a bizarre eye injury when a tennis ball to the face forced him to withdraw from a first-round match in Montpellier last week. And even though this is an indoor hard court, the conditions are probably not as fast as Mpetshi Perricard would like.
