You only get one Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) debut!

And only one athlete debuted last night in “Sin City” (Sat., 2 August 2025) at UFC Vegas 108 in UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada, but it didn’t go so well.

The Rookie of UFC Vegas 108 lost, and now the dust is arranged, let’s review his performance below:

John Yannis

Fury Fighting Championship (Fury FC) Champion Feedweight John Yannis stepped on a five -day notice period to face the top perspective Austin Baka after Francis Marshall withdrew. Unfortunately for Yannis, the Short-notice Gamble did not pay off because it was steamed and tapped in the first round (watch highlights).

Bashi, a 23-year-old grab phenomenon, stumbled in his UFC debut, but was out to prove that he is a future competition. Hazing in the short term is a nightmare for everyone, and Yannis, a knockout artist with crispy boxing, learned that in the hard way.

The fight was pure dominance. After a few seconds circling, Bashi came out and unleashed a wild combination that barely missed. Yannis shot back with a body stick, but Bashi’s reaction was surgical and a photo-perfect branchedown with double legs that Yannis planted on the canvas.

From there it was one -way traffic. Bashi swung the back of Yannis and rained accurate ground and pounds. Yannis drew early attempts from entries, but could not escape the suffocating control of Bashi. While Yannis tried to go up, he couldn’t handle Bashi’s hand control. Bashi played with him, transition to a body triangle and two hooks secured.

Bashi kept the pressure ruthless, peppering Yannis with strikes. When Yannis got up briefly, Bashi jumped out, climbing quickly with his back, sinked a second -hand choke and forced the tap at 3:39 of the first round.

Let’s call it what it was: a squash competition. Yannis was a sacrificial lamb to get Bashi his first UFC victory and some shine after a rocky debut. Yannis’ acclaimed knockout power? This does not consist of this – he landed zero important strikes and went 2 for 9 on total strikes.

Is Yannis UFC material? No, but in the modern UFC, where the standard of a UFC hunter is low, it can scrape past for a few fights.

Hopefully the matchmakers throw the 31-year-old a bone Dennis BuzukjaSo the fan base can see him strike a little before it is released.

Final grade: F
