Atlanta, Georgia Brian Rolapp is only three weeks in his new job as CEO of the PGA Tour and still in the actual, collecting opinion, but it was clear in his first extensive media conference on Wednesday morning on the Tour Championship that his presence is not the only important change that comes.
It may be too much to call Rolapp an agent of change, but he brings a fresh set of eyes and mandate to make something good, leaning in the future and the ever -changing ways in which the game can be presented.
Questions from the media in a chalet in a hospitality near the ninth tee of East Lake Golf Club, was Rolapp impressive and he expressed his vision as well as he could, while he acknowledges that he still has a lot to learn. More than once, Rolapp has shown that the PGA Tour will look and work differently in the near future.
“I said that when I took the job I would take it with a clean sheet of paper, and that is still true. My fan letter on the first day, I said we are going to honor tradition, but we will not be exaggerated. Now we are going to put that empty paper in action with an idea to build on the base that we have,” Rolapp said.

To this end, Rolapp announced its first initiative – creating the future competition committee led by Tiger Woods with the aim of revising the Tour and possibly reinventing it.
Woods is accompanied in the committee by players Patrick Cantlay, Adam Scott, Camilo Villegas, Maverick McNealy and Keith Mitchell together with Joe Gorder, chairman of the PGA Tour Enterprises Board, John Henry, manager of the Strategic Sports Group and Theo Epstin, in the Senior Advisor in the Senior Advisor, Senior Advisor, Senior Advisor, Senior Advisor, Senior Advisor, Senior Advisor, Senior Advisor, Senior Advisor, Senior Advisor, Senior Senior Baseball’s recent changes.
The committee, Rolapp said, will be led by three principles – parity, scarcity and simplicity. That means maintaining the meritocratic structure of the Tour, bringing together top players more often to improve the involvement of fans and find a way to better combine the regular season and play -offs, while the Tour Championship is increased.
By design, the committee is weighed with players.
“I really like it. I like that he doesn’t come from golf. I like that he has no pre -set ideas about what golf should look like or what the tour should look like.” – Rory Mcilroy
One day after the Tour announced a schedule of 2026 with a ninth characteristic event added, which created a piece of six weeks with three characteristic events and two major championships, Rolapp indicated that the schedule could change considerably in the short term.
“I think the correct answer is that we will take so much time to get it right, at least the first time -out, but we are going to move aggressively. So I would like to place the right competitive model as soon as possible,” Rolapp said.
With Commissioner Jay Monahan present, Rolapp made it clear that his priority is to concentrate on the PGA Tour. He has had no conversations with representatives of the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Aarabia, which exploits Liv Golf, and suggested that he sees more urgency in other areas.
The players are a critical constituency and Rolapp continues to introduce themselves, after he has already spoken with about 20, time to get their thoughts about where the Tour should concentrate in the future. He recently spent 90 minutes with Rory McIlroy, who took a step back from his role as a player leader, but remains influential in the Tour company.

“I really like it,” said McIlroy. “I like that he doesn’t come from golf. I like that he has no pre -set ideas about what golf should look like or what the Tour should look like. I think he will bring a new perspective for everything, and I think he wants to move fairly quickly, so I am excited,” McIlroy said.
The Strategic Sports Group, which has invested $ 1.5 billion in PGA Tour companies, and media partners are also important constituencies together with fans while the Tour continues to rely on important lessons from the Fan Forward initiative.
Asked if decisions had been made about how to invest the SSG funds, Rolapp hinted through the progress.
“I think I have a lot of ideas, none I am actually willing to share today, but I will say that it is one of the things that attracted me to this possibility, where the SSG investment is a strategic investment. And not only thinks it is necessary, in the expert, in the expert, in the expert, in the expert, in the expert, in the expert, in the expert, in the expert, in the expert, in the expert, Expert, in the expert, in the expert, in the expert, in the expert, in expert, who I think is the PGA tour, I also think PGA is tour, “. Said Rolapp.
Instrumental in successful innovations in the NFL, including creating Thursday evening football and placing some games on streaming services instead of traditional television networks, Rolapp was largely assumed to speed up the evolution of the Tour.
The reviews are this year across the board, but the creation of the characteristic events and ninth has been added next year in Miami has created what is seen as a tour tour. Building on the NFL’s model in which every game must feel special, Rolapp sees room for tour growth.
There have been discussions about changing the format of the Tour Championship and moving and building a schedule that would position the Tour to possess the summer “with sports fans.
“Look, the sports company is not that complicated. You get the product well, you get the right partners, your fans will reward you with their time because they tell you that it is good and they want more of it, and then the commercial and the business part will take care of themselves.
“Then you just have to constantly innovate. I think if there is something that I have learned at the NFL, it is. We have not sat still, rules have changed every year. We have changed the kick -off rule. I mean to honor tradition but not to be bound. I think that level of innovation is what we will do here, and I think this is a lesson.”
