Rohl insists Rangers ‘cannot rest’ after beating Annan in Scottish Cup – Soccer News

Danny Rohl insisted his Rangers side “cannot rest” after they beat Annan Athletic 5-0 to reach the last 16 of the Scottish Cup.

Bojan Miovski scored a hat-trick in the win, with his first two goals coming before half-time, despite a shaky start at Ibrox for Rangers.

Kieran Dowell quickly added a third to ease the nerves shortly after half-time and Miovski managed to seal his treble from the penalty in the 74th minute.

Thelo Aasgaard’s stunning free-kick secured a routine win for the home side, whose home fans were thrilled before kick-off following the revelation of Andreas Skov Olsen’s surprise loan signing.

Tochi Chukwuani and Tuur Rommens were also introduced to the Rangers faithful ahead of the cup tie as they look to strengthen their squad for their Scottish Premier League title push.

Rangers have now won six games in a row in all competitions and Rohl has urged his players not to take their foot off the accelerator.

In interviews with BBC Scotland and Premier Sports, Rohl said: “A clean sheet and five goals is always nice.

“Overall it was a good week for us. Some good results, good signings. All in all it was going in the right direction.

“I’m happy to see some players on the field again, and players from the youth academy. I’m proud of our development. The fans are back, six wins in a row. It’s fantastic. But we can’t rest, we have to lead the way.”

“5-0 is a good result for us. We needed some time. We rotated the players and they weren’t that connected, but they got better and better. We controlled. Respect for the opponent, they gave everything.”

“This is what we had to do today, no more. It’s about recovering. We have big games ahead of us. All in all I’m happy.”
