Rohan Dani took a double silver medal on the WTT youth candidate in Batumi, Georgia, while there were quarter-final places for Dani and Max Radiven.
Dani and partner Prisha Goel van India went through four rounds in the under-19 mixed doubles, including the beating of the fourth seeds in the quarterfinals and then the best seeds in the semi-final.
That semi-final victory showed their fighting qualities when they recovered from losing the first game to Abdulla Mamay & Noila Khaniyazova from Kazakhstan and later returned from 10-6 to win it 14-12 and go to the final.
They were confronted with second seeds (and the respective singles top seeds), Alan Kurmangaliyev from Kazakhstan & Karolina Holda van Polen, for the gold medal and although the first two games were close by, the higher ranking was shaded and the higher-ranked pair of them) trium and covered.
Dani, ranked no. 159 in the world on the Junior List, reached the quarterfinals of the Singles Under-19 Boys’ Boys and defeated fellow countryman Radives in the last 16. His run ended through the hands of Fourth Seed and World No 53 Gorkem Ocal van Turkey.
Abraham Sellado (WR 221) went out in the last 32 to Adam Smoter van Polen (WR 173). At the same stage, Radives (WR 305) had a big victory over Thomas Laroche of France (WR 82), in three straights.
In the Under-17s, Radives reached the quarterfinals with another good victory, in the last 16 on Smoter, arranged 132 places above him at 173. He was then eliminated by Top seed Ocal.
Dani went out in the last 16 to Ylyas Allanazarov (WR 261) from Turkmenistan, while Sellado went to Berk Oztoprak from Turkey (WR 174) even though he had led 2-0.
