Brendan Rodgers has become the first frontrunner to become Wolves’ new head coach following the decision to sack Vitor Pereira.
Pereira was sacked on Sunday as Wolves were winless in the Premier League this season. The Portuguese coach made an immediate impression after his arrival last December and helped Wolves avoid relegation problems.
However, results have fallen since then, with Wolves sinking to the bottom of the Premier League following Saturday’s 3-0 defeat to Fulham.

“Vitor and his team worked tirelessly for Wolves and helped us through a challenging period last season, for which we are grateful,” Wolves chairman Jeff Shi said in a statement.
“Unfortunately the start to this season has been a disappointment and despite our strong desire to give the head coach time and matches to find improvement, we have reached a point where we need to make a change.
“We thank Vitor and his employees for their efforts and wish them all the best for the future.”

Brendan Rodgers has been installed as the early favorite for the vacant position. The 52-year-old resigned as Celtic manager earlier this month, ending his second spell with the Scottish champions.
Rodgers led Celtic to four league titles and seven domestic cups during his two spells in Glasgow. He also has previous experience in the Premier League, having spent time at Swansea, Liverpool and Leicester City. Rodgers guided Leicester to the FA Cup in 2020/21.
The bookmakers have also included former Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag on their shortlist, which includes Sergio Conceicao, ex-Wolves defender Kevin Muscat and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
