The community quickly picked up on the inconsistency in his words, especially when it came to BTC.
The bestselling author of Rich Dad Poor Dad recently came under fire after making some interesting but highly controversial comments about when he reportedly stopped buying certain assets, including BTC.
The question many community members asked was: Is he lying now, or has he been deceitful for a long time?
(When) Did Kiyosaki lie?
The popular author and investment guru became a prominent BTC bull during the COVID crash and has regularly praised the asset. Moreover, he advises people to buy more BTC, as well as gold and silver, and recently added ETH to his story.
What’s even more interesting is that he has posted several messages on X indicating that he has purchased more. Just a few examples include on July 1, 2025, when he literally said on X that he “bought another bitcoin today.” At the time, the cryptocurrency was trading between $105,000 and $110,000 – this is important to the story in this article.
Then, just a few weeks later, as BTC exploded above $117,000, he noted that he would “buy another bitcoin as soon as possible.” Kiyosaki also explained in early 2026 that he is ignoring the prices of BTC and ETH and just keeps buying more.
Yet in his most recent post on the matter, which caused significant backlash, he claimed that he had stopped buying Bitcoin at $6,000. For reference, the cryptocurrency hasn’t traded at such low levels since just after the COVID-19 crash in mid-2020. Even with the recent crash to $60,000, that’s still ten times the price it claimed.
Naturally, the ever-vigilant crypto community was quick to pick up on the inconsistency in his posts on X lashed out about being a liar – now, or he’s been lying for years.

Others went after various claims he made over the years, mostly for major crashes and various investment advice he made, many of which never materialized. For example, Mark McGrath pulled out a card with many of his comments and took a direct shot at Kiyosaki, claiming he is “such a lying fraud.”
You’re such a lying fraud, holy cow.
You’ve been pumping all three of these non-stop daily for years and now you claim you never bought anything?
