Rob Manfred achieved the Niets-to-see approach when tackling cursed by Bryce Harper during a recent visit to the clubhouse of Phillies.
The MLB commissioner spoke with reporters on Friday after announcing the All-Star game of 2027 on the way to Wrigley Field and discussed the heated verbal confrontation with Harper last week, reported for the first time by Joel Sherman and Jonyman from The Post.
“You know, I’m not talking about those players’ meetings,” Manfred said in Chicago. “Let me say this: I think more has been made here than it needs to be made. Bryce expressed his views, at the end of the meeting we shake hands and went our own way. Not so important.”
Harper told Manfred to leave the Phillies Clubhouse if he was there to discuss the possibility of a salary limit in the next collective employment contract (CBA), in which ESPN reported that the first baseman told the Commissioner that he should “get the F – K” if that was the case.
The visit was part of the annual tour of Manfred by MLB teams and he was only about five minutes in seeing the Phillies when Harper intervened strongly.
A salary limit has long been a controversial issue, where MLB is the only major sport without a form of one, and seems to be again with the SMEs of the competition that ends after next season.
The Phillies are among the highest spending teams in MLB, fourth in the competition at $ 289 million, only behind the Dodgers, Mets and Yankees behind.

But there are also teams such as the Marlins, who have a payroll of just $ 66 million.
MLB still has to publicly explain what it wants at the negotiating table.
But the position reported that the commissioner’s office would want a form of a salary limit and there is the expectation of a lockout that could endanger a large part of the 2027 season.
Until that time, Harper will be focused primarily on keeping the Phillies at the top of the Dutch East while fighting the Mets in his attempt to win his first World Series.
Philadelphia comes in half a game for the Mets on Saturday after this last Friday evening lost their fourth consecutive game, this is a 4-3 home setback in 10 innings for the Giants.
