Road to the BCBC: Week 3

Kevin Gazzale

Welcome to week 3 of my journey to the 2026 BCBC. We head to Aqueduct for this week’s $20 qualifier. I’m writing and recording this the night before these races as I will be walking around Disney World as they will run and (hopefully) follow as we go. A similar position last week at Del Mar, as we had a chance going into the last race, but our roster didn’t rotate. Let’s move on to tomorrow.

Aqueduct Friday 12/4

Race 1 – 6 Autumn’s Turn, take the second choice chalk here as the quality of this race is about as low as it gets and the 1/1 favorite is bred for grass so give me the second choice on the morning line.

Race 2 – 4 trust issues, a good mix of a somewhat decent price. You know you will always get top performance from Mr. Elliot.

Race 3 – 4 Tizlawry, this horse race went well, especially late the last time on grass. Now they’re trying again on dirt. Grass numbers are the best on this field, but they just need to translate to dirt.

Race 4 – 7 Best bet, this is a tough race that lasts a long time, with horses that are bad, old or both. Best Bet could get to the front and move on.

Race 5 – 4 Rose Lisa, sometimes you just have to know when to reach for the chalk.

Race 6 – 6 Funny Uncle is in a race that should have a decent pace and his late pace is consistent and tops this field.

Race 7 – 5 Refuah, consistent figs in the late pace, while he is 6 he is one of the youngest in this group.

Race 8 – 7 Ask for a friend, almost at the top in all classes, somewhat weak field with horses that have not made a jump in years in terms of form. ,
