Rising welterweight paves way for Leon Edwards victory at UFC 322 | BJPenn.com

A rising welterweight has revealed what he expects from Leon Edwards at UFC 322.

Edwards will share the Octagon with Carlos Prates in New York City on Saturday. Many believe this could be ‘Rocky’s’ last chance to prove he still has some juice left in the tank after two one-sided losses.

Edwards’ most recent opponent, Sean Brady, believes the former welterweight titleholder should be diverse in his fight against Prates (h/t MMA Junkie).

“I think if Leon is smart, he’s going to come out here and do mixed martial arts – mix it up,” Brady said on the radio. “BradyBagz show.” “Obviously Leon is a striker, but I also think he has really good takedowns. He took down (Kamaru) Usman, he took out Colby (Covington). He’s taken down quite a few people, so I think if he’s smart he’ll mix it up, and not just try to strike with Prates all the time, because when you do that, you give Prates the opportunity to finish you, and we’ve seen how good he is on the feet.

“If you look back at Leon’s record, he took down Rafael dos Anjos when they fought, he beat Gunnar Nelson and Belal (Mohammed). He won two rounds against Belal on the ground. He took him down, took him on his back. So I think if he’s smart, he’ll do that with Prates. In the fight with Ian Garry, Ian was clearly able to take him out and I think Leon can follow the same path. I’m going to pick Leon – I do think he’ll win.”

Brady fought Edwards in March. His wrestling was on full display in the fight, and he finished it off with a submission finish in the fourth round. Brady will also compete on the UFC 322 card as he faces undefeated Michael Morales.
