Anthony Hernandez continues to rise in the middleweight division of the UFC and he promises to take the belt one day.
Hernandez had the task of hiring Roman Dolidze in the main event of UFC Vegas 109. In the game Dolidze did not finish in his Pro MMA career. “Fluffy” became the first man to do this, so that a submission of the fourth round was obtained through coded choke. The finish yielded a bonus “Performance of the Night” and expanded his winning series to eight.
During the UFC Vegas 109 Post-Fight Press Conference, Hermandez made the vow when talking to reporters (H/T Mmafighting).
“I was pissed off my last fight I came in with torn ribs. It went to a decision,” said Hernandez after the victory. “I just had to do what I had to do to win. This time I wanted to end up with the f*ck with my hands, my f*cking struggling, my jiu-jitsu. Show that I can do everything.
“I want a title shot. What should I do?
You have to go back to March 2020 to find the most recent loss of Hernandez. It was a TKO defeat of 39 seconds against Kevin Holland. Since that fight, ‘Fluffy’ has gone into a tear and beating people like Brendan Allen, Michel Pereira and now Dolidze.
So how long should Hernandez wait for a crack at UFC Gold? Reinier de Ridder, Nassourdine Imavov and Caio Borralho walk for him in terms of the winner of the UFC 319 title Fight between Dricus du Plessis and Khamzat Chimaev. That said, Hernandez might be able to make his way in a no. 1 competition, given his momentum.
Anthony Hernandez will be present in Chicago to witness DDP vs. Chimaev.
