The overnight leader Ridhima Dilawari will take a four-shot lead on the final day of the Kalhaar leg of the Hero Women’s Pro Golf Tour event in Ahmedabad on Friday.
On Thursday, in the opening match of the BPGC in Mumbai, the runner-up produced a 3-under par 69 and a total of 5-under 139, four shots ahead of amateur Zara Anand (72-71, 143), according to the WGAI.
Ridhima closed with a bogey, but had already made four birdies in a row earlier in her 69, seeking a first win since July last year at Zion Hills near Bangalore.
Jahanvi Bakshi (73-71), whose eagle on the Par-5 fifth made up for bogeys on holes 2 and 4, also grabbed a shot on 11 for a 1-under 71 to finish tied for third alongside Amandeep Drall (72-72).
While Ridhima has a healthy lead on the court, as many as eight players are within three shots of each other behind her.
Amandeep looked to be on track for a good day with four birdies against two bogeys through seventeen holes, but made a double bogey on the last to move level on points for the second day in a row.
Roller coaster running
Delhi amateur Lavanya Gupta, the All-India women’s champion, had a rollercoaster of a day, starting with two bogeys and a double on her first three holes.
She recovered with birdies at 4, 5 and 8, but another bogey at 9 meant she made it 2-over. Four more birdies on the back nine gave her a brilliant 70, after a 75 in the first round.
Lavanya finished in a tie for fifth place with Nayanika Sanga (73-72) at 1 over 145.
Vani Kapoor and Saanvi Somu each shot a second consecutive 73 for a tie for seventh place alongside Sneha Singh (71-75), who slipped in the second round.
Amateur Janneya A. Dasanniee (79-72), Rhea Purvi (76-75) and Lavanya Jadon (75-76) rounded out the top 10 with 7 over 151.
Mumbai stage winner Jasmine Shekar (79-74) tied for 17the.
The cut dropped to 159 and 27 players made it to the final round.
